Loose Gas Checks?
Came into a batch of .44 cal cast rifle bullets recently, & noticed that I could easily turn quite a few of the gas checks.

They don't fall off - at least not in my hand, they just turn....

How much of a problem is this really? Any potential for bore damage?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have a 35 cal mold that cast the gas check shanks undersize, and hence gaschecks are always loose on those bullets. I've cast and shot 1000's of them from 357 mag, 357 max, 35 whelen and 350 Rigby with no problems.

Paul -
Thanks for the word on this. Be a shame to scrap out a good bullet...

gcf,

yeah, you really only want to scrap those bullets one at a time!
