Oldfeller,
There is a new thread at Aimoo on Lee-menting a mold.
If you would describe here, or go there and describe the honing process for the molds and the special honing for the sizer die, like you did on the papers you sent with our 6.5 molds the list would appreciate it.
Is BruceB'ing a mold the process of shimming with foil? That could also go well on this thread, whoever knows how to do it. - Lew

Lew, the process of shimming a mould with aluminium tape is know as 'beagling', after our very own Beagle. Once a mould has had this done to, a reversible procees btw, it is known as having been 'beaglized'. I have done this and it works!

Honing moulds and sizer dies is covered on castpics. Just follow this thread and look down the list where you will find both topics.

'Leementing' involves removing the sprue plate hinge pin (screw) from a Lee mould and honing the top block surface and bottom sprue (after enlarging, as needed, the sprue hole), removing burrs from the cavities, and generally cleaning up the mould. THEN, D&T a set screw for the sprue plate pin so that the sprue plate pressure can be positively adjusted and stay in place. Much work for a cheap aluminium mould, but the ones I have done work well.

Lew, Sundog never saw one of the first 100 customized 6.5 Swede molds, he got his directly from Midsouth-Lee on the 5th 25-lot production run. From Sundog's experience, things were not so rosy in 6.5 land since LEE screwed his molds up on two critical dimensions and had to ask Sundog to send the bad molds back to them for replacement.

He never got a full Zeiss data-packet with his mold, nor was his as-cast bullet custom fitted to his throat (complete with custom lubriciser die) such that all the sizing die had to do was clean up the parting line flash and shoot some lube in the grooves.

Quite frankly, most folks don't understand that particular mold deal very well (those that did not participate).

Also, Sundog is tied up in the BIG MELT and is also trying hard with Felix to find a way to get our old digs back to life again. In that endeavor I wish him great success and shower him with best wishes and goodwill. Go Sundog, Go.

So, you can see why I don't really want to be the cause of any consternation right now. Later, maybe.

Lew,
[Wink] Thanks for the thought. I do appreciate the effort. I have to go it alone apparently.

Lew, 45nut think of it this way. Out of respect for all past efforts and possible current efforts we just wait a bit. It doesn't cost anything extra (other than some patience) and it makes for harmony.

"Relative speed" is an issue with me -- I tend to move quickly on a project once I start it. This means I can start something and finish it before some other folks have gotten out of the gate good on another part of the same thing. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending. And I am aware of that issue as something to consider.

In several cases, I can remember talking about a project, having someone jump up and say they were going to do that and then waiting 3 months for them to go forward with it. This has happened multiple times with this group, too.

On occasion, that means I SLOW DOWN on purpose sometimes -- for harmony's sake. Felix and Sundog have posted hints of some effort on their part to resurrect the old list. Sundog just posted an oblique reminder of something on this very thread, so let's just wait a little bit to see what that might be before running off to create a replacement LEEMENT (with pictures, no less).

Sundog, what are you and Felix up to, anyway? Maybe us knowing about it is better than not-knowing, as it will allow for a better allocation of time and efforts on other projects while you finish up on what you may have already started.
