customboltCan anyone "weight" a hog based on the size of the cutters?
Just a range would be nice as I have had no experience with larger hogs. We lost the true weight to decay. It's a northern Romanian boar. Thank you Marius. Just got the mount today.

jeffeossonot a skill I have - i've seen decent tusk on 50# and nubs on 250# .. they are worn down by the environment they are rooting around in...

enySize of tusks and size of boar are not related within the area. That said, its not uncommon to kill a 400 lbs boar in good shap with Marius

Kyler HamannCongratulations on a great trophy.
I'm afraid you're not going to find an accurate correlation of tusk length with weight - other than a very crude range. That would be similar to trying to estimate a deer’s weight simply from the antlers.
Comparing to the boars in our area I would guess your boar would likely have to be over 200 pounds to get such mature tusks, but as other posters mentioned you can have much larger boars with stunted tusk growth. And I’ve seen a few regressing boars with huge tusks that weighed under 150 pounds.

customboltThanks everyone. I'll just chalk it up as a decent hog. Probably won't help but, jus' for giggles, the remains...….

dustofferThis one weighed 150 on my scale/hoist. And note--there is about 2x the length of tusk embedded in the gums and jawbone compared to the visible length.

Bobby TomekI've seen no correlation between weight and tusk size.

customboltThanks for chiming in fellas. Wish I was out and about for hogs . Gettin' the itch for a drive down Texas way and then scoot into lower OK to whack a hog or two after it dries out there a bit as well.

Bingo.
One of the largest set of tusks I have ever seen came from a 135 pounder.
