Funny as it may sound, A distress call will bring javalinas running. My son and I were calling coyotes in the area where I have a AZ firearms javalina tag last Saturday. We sat down and started to blow a jackrabbit call and the whole canyon became alive with hogs. They were running towards the source of the call. After about 100 yards they lost interest and began to mill around, then I would blow again, and here they come. I got one of them with in 10 yard before he busted me. I have been told, (truth or urban legend, I dont know) the distress call is similar to their own babies and they will defend. Also, javalina are opportunists and would find a jackrabbit snack tasty over the usual repast of prickly pear and shin dagger. Good luck Jon In Tucson | ||
