Fine boars. Never knew they were available in UK. I will have to remember that.

Please fill us in with some details. I didni't even know boar hunting was available in the UK. I didn't even think it was even legal to own rifles there -unless they are stored in some type of armory. Please don't let my ignorance annoy you. Please educate me on all of these matters. It would be be nice to hear of the details of your hunt as well.

I have had this area with boar on it for 6/7 yrs now,I very rarely do any deer stalking now, as I am captivated by the Boar, they are just something different !
A couple of years ago a good friend of mine asked me to clients out, and thats how I started.
I don`t over cook it,usually take 1 person out on a full moon.
Where I hunt there is a good breeding population (the farmers reckon it`s too good !!)
They are so unpredictable and just amazing to watch, and some people here may understand the feeling I get when I take someone out and they see a boar for the first time, even better they shoot some,to me the £ is secondary thing, though I like to cover my costs.
I do think I`m very lucky to have boar stalking in the U.K.
The biggest one shot on my area was 365lbs (thats with guts out) its the picture of the one with biggish tusks.
Another client shot a left and right,240lbs and 220lbs, with a fox in between, then I took him to Africa, he was smitten too.I do like to help newcomers and encourage them and give them all the support I can, we shooters have to put something back and help the newcomers along.

Camp Dog, we do have a harder time to own rifles here in the U.K, but it`s not as bad as you think.
You have to apply for a firearms certificate to own a rifle, you have to have land to shoot it on and the land has to be passed for that calibre of weapon.
Some people, like myself have what is called an "open certificate" which means I can use my rifle anywhere I think is safe and suitable, all my rifles are on open certificate, .22,22-250.30-06 and even my 458.
It is hard to explain the firearms laws on here, but hope this helps a bit.
I have helped a few youngsters get their firearms certificates and try and teach them what I can.I don`t know everything, bt little I do know I like to share.
