A local farmer has a hog issue, asked me to have a look. Yesterday we made a tour of the area and placed two cameras... seems there are mature hogs around.

Seems the fellow would make some money setting some stands for hunters to clear the hogs out "Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force." --Thomas Jefferson

arkypete Might fill a few dozen hungry bellies too. Dking Is that temperature correct? 72 degrees in South Carolina? $$$$$ I'd pay to hunt those in an open field like that. I have no problem chipping in for a butcher to cut up the rest (minus backstraps) for some needy locals. CB Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

custombolt, morning can not agree more. When a group of use went down to Nicaragua to duck and dove hunt we gave all the birds to local families. We also brought coloring books, crayons, tooth brushes, tooth paste and what ever our wives thought the families in Nicaragua needed. A friend and I are going down to South Carolina this fall to shoot some pigs. I'm trying out 250 grain cast bullet out of a 375 Whelen. At least one tasty pig is coming home for a pig roast, one of the advantages of having a Son-in-law who is a chef. Custombolt: 72 is about correct for 6:00 AM(ish)... still fairly humid. These hog are problematic in that they are in the crops, corn in this particular spot. It isn't much of an open area there as it appear in this photo, were just in a small turn-around spot and these hog seem to be after leaked hydraulic fluid... and corn. I shoot these as depredation or simply killing pest, I don't hunt them.

Went out last evening into a soybean field (peanuts last year) as a first trip, stayed until 11:00PM... 19 deer but nary a hog. This morning I went to the corn field camera with activity at about 4:00AM, five hogs at my arrival, got a chubby boar and two grown sows.

arky - Very generous of you. Have fun at your fall hog hunt. Dking. Nice work on some decent sized hogs. Buzzards will be eating well. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

Custombolt: The two sows were taken by the property owner as eaters, skinned and in his meat cooler fairly quick... the boar is resting quietly on the gut pile I'm told. I been approached a number of times by locals requesting a hog or two if I kill any, they seem sincere in their request and some (perhaps 3 or 4 times) even take a few but the vast majority balk or don't answer when I contact them about their hog request. Mind you, I kill hogs at night and the days are warm, there isn't much desire for a bloated hog and folks just don't seem to want to have a hog or two delivered at 2:00 AM. I'm getting a little old and single handedly loading dead hogs into my pickup for a last little joy when delivery didn't happen isn't getting any easier. Most just get buried in farmers fields.

DKing--used to be able to hand off a hog most any time, but lately, no takers. At least no takers when I can hold up my end of the deal. As a result, the buzzard buffet is normally well-stocked. Trap is set tonight as I type -- unless they are already in the trap. I will see in the AM, but they have been in the trap about every night for 2 weeks, so things are promising. Dustoffer: Yeah... Folks indicate they want them but they soon appreciate it is a goodly bit of work to get one prepped and the ugly bit hauled away... lost time at work for some folks... best to get the far less troublesome meat market variant it seems. I may setup a trap or two on this new place if the owner desires, AT&T service is poor in that area and I may need to extend my antenna(s) for control reliability. Overall about 12,000 acres but much less where the crops are in peril. Shooting is low overall kill rate but immediate indications of intent while scouting and situation assessment.

I hear that about takers. Most seem to just want them cleaned and packaged and ready for the frying pan or whatever the case may be. A few decades ago (gasp) I got a nice snapper turtle and a lady at worked agreed to take it for snapper soup. But, her husband couldn't bare to kill it. So, it got a free truck ride back to the river. Git dem hogs gents. Hope your morning was productive dusthoffer. CB Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

If I were in the area I would buy a big freezer and take one any time night or day. I can keep several knives sharp, tarps, and coolers with salt water ready. If I were feeding my kids still it would be a blessing. I am getting great grands now and they are miles away.... Keep making good ferals. Good job. Be Well, Packy.

Spacebook is reliable. I mainly used them to see what our cycling crew had decided to do next week. But I guess I got banned as I can't get on and they won't let me get a new account. They don't like conservatism for sure. Don't say anything about the commie halfican obummer. It won't sit well with their establishment. But I hope you get the photos back. Be Well, Packy.
