I will be home from the Middle East for the holidays. Two of my three sons are in college and will be home as well. My third son (11) is with his Mother outside San Antonio where I will join them all. I'd like to take them out to hunt hogs within a few hours of San Antonio. Any suggestions? I have been out of Texas for 5 years living in Alberta so am a bit out of touch with what is available. Appreciated.

Might be hard to find a hunt during deer season--but good luck.

Crap. Excellent point that I lost being away from Texas for 5 years.... Might have to try to find a bird hunt as they nor I are interested in sitting in a blind over a feeder to shoot a deer. Appreciate the tip.

Call Shane and see if he can help you. Or call John Austin -- he will be tied up on trophy deer from around Dec 10-13 or so through the end of the season but may know of something.

If those do not pan out try asking on Texas Boars or the hunting board at 2CoolFishing.Com.

Good luck to you.

Why not try Jed with Tactical Hog Control? Excellent reviews and deer season doesn't seem to be putting a damper on their fun!

That's a very good point!

Thanks guys for the plug.

Deer season is tricky, I respect the hunters that feel that our operation is hampering their deer hunting results. Without joining us and watching it first hand, most people would not believe that the deer are unaffected by us wacking hogs at night.

I'll give one example, Saturday night (deer opener in Texas) I had some boys from Alabama, they shot 4 hogs on this one stalk, and as we were walking back to the Ranger Crew we had a 10 point walk right through the pile of dead hogs. Now he showed up 30 seconds after these fellas shot 12-15 rounds with the .308's, he was toatally unaffected as are most of the thousands we encountered.

But with that said, we still try to hunt the 25,000 or so acres that is not leased by deer hunters.

THC,

Appreciate the PM. I sent it off to the boys to see what they thought. Two of the tree are military tactical nuts so to speak so it will be interesting...
