I was able to do my first hog hunt in Georgia. I shot these two pigs at 100 yards using a 115 ballistic tip handloaded from my 25.06. DRT!

Good shooting, head shots make a DRT everytime it seems.
where'd you go to do this deed? At what cost too IF I may ask.

I didn't know how soft the ballistic tips would be and didn't want to take any chances so I took head shots only. Can't wait to go back and do it again! These will be some tasty pigs. Now does anyone have any good recipes they care to share?
I went to Yellow Bluff in Georgia. Mike Williams owns the place. Great people, free range land (3500 acres) of it. Prices are very reasonable at 250 a day, google them.

Pay to hunt pigs? I'm so happy I have 3 landowners hollerin' at me to come "kill 'em all!"

Just a good reason to live in Texas (besides granddaughter being here too).

Glad you had a good hunt--and I stick to head shots although I'm shooting at relatively close and known ranges off bipod.

Dustoffer,
I noticed the circular trap in another of your posts.
The circular trap seems to not have a gate to lock the pigs in after they enter.
Is that true.
It looks like it's a functional trap.
How does it compare in effectiveness to a locking-door trap.
Also, what did you use as bait to get the pigs into that circular trap.
Can you send me dimensions of that trap. I have a couple of hundred acres in East Texas and would like to try that trap style.

Thanks, 700 Nitro I guess I would have to consider gas or plane ticket and lodging, compared to where I hunted? But I will explore that option in the future.

Gone are the days of free hunts. Everybody thinks they are going to get nigger-rich by charging to "hunt" their pigs. I have an outstanding reputation as responsible and courteous hunter and I have not had an invite to hunt for free since high school that is 20+years now. The outcome will be the landowners demanding the govt step in and eradicate their self made problem and I sincerely hope the govt tells them to fug off!

I have heard so many tales of free hunts it is ridiculous. I have offered to mend fences, change tractor tires, clear brush/fence lines, mow senderos, watch the youngins' so ma and pa can have a night on the town with no avail.

I think doing a favor for the land owners would be appreciated and shouldn't have to pay to rid them of vermin such as pigs. I guess they only see dollar signs.

drewhenry is right. 700, what I think you are running into is friendly forum members hooking up someone who wants to make the trip down to hunt hogs. Not typical any more, and I hunt them year round as many of us do here who live in the
South. Everyone seems to want to make a quick buck.

well i cant argue that point your prbabaly right then i must be extreamly lucky becuase when ever i ask for free hunts just about any where i get them i guess you just have to be both persistant and patient

and your right most of them see $$$$$ then when they ask for for $$$ i laugh at them and drive away and watch as more of there $$$ gose down the drain as the boars tear the land out from underneath them poetic justice...
