Oh, that last photo got to my taste buds, too -- and right at lunchtime! Looks like you had a great day outdoors.

Front axle is a high pinion Dana 44, 5:38 gears: Detroit locker: 33 spline shafts: disc brakes: Deadenbear high steer knuckles: Hydraulic Assist steering.

Rear Axle: Curry Rock Jock high pinion Dana 60: 5:38: Detroit Lockers: 35 spline shafts: Disc Brakes. Rear axle extended back about 6”.

Under the Hood: 4.3 GM V-6: Lumpy Cam: Domed Pistons: H-Beam Rods: Vortex Heads: Throttle Body Injection: MSD 6 Off Road Ignition: MSD distributor: and some other highly classified stuff.

Nope. I had been up the climb a bunch BUT, have not been up since we have had so much rain this spring. There was a little shower there before we started and it was just wet enough to make it a damned interesting climb. There were also more, bigger ledges to climb and with muddy tires was interesting. My wife bailed on my about half way up. Two of the guys I wheel with took the by-pass, when they saw I was having some difficulty getting a bite, I asked them when I finally got to the top “why didn’t they go ahead and wear their skirts if they are going to run the by-passes”. On one ledge the jeep slide sideways about ten twelve feet trying to get a bit on the rocks, it was a white knuckle climb.

I have a friend who bought a CJ5 that was partially converted. He finished it, and I got to go for a back country ride with him. Very impressive, and a fine hobby and sport, IMO, but a little expensive. Perhaps it's cheaper than a bad case of golf, and to me it's more fun. Big Grin

Those GM v-6's are dandy engines.
I've got a spare hanging in my shop that's looking for a new owner right now. Full stock as it came out.
Glad you're having fun!

George,

The 4.3 is a great engine for a jeep. A little more HP, stock, than the 258 Rambler and I was able to gain some 7" on my rear drive shaft length and decrease the angle.

Rusty,

We were down at Marble Falls, actually SE of MF. There is a ranch of around 4K acres that opened up to off road vehicles about 5 years ago. Pay and Play.

It is fun and has something for everyone's driving and vehicle ability. Then they also have some nasty" I ain't going up that" trails.

This past weekend, they held a "Wheelers for the Wounded" event. They would give rides to wounded warriors for two days. We went down Sunday morning early and the event ended Saturday evening due to the weather that was supposed to come in.

The park staff told us that they were planning another ride in the fall, for the wounded, before hunting season opens. We went ahead and made reservation so that we will have an RV site reserved.
