Not much to tell here. Stepped outside around 7 and saw a dark form through binoculars. After confirming it was a hog, I eased behind the Contender with 23" 30-30 barrel and sent a Barnes TAC-TX BlackOut bullet downrange at first opportunity.

The bullet, which has a muzzle velocity of 2630 fps, took the boar right in the "crease", centering and heavily damaging the lungs before breaking two ribs and leaving a quarter-sized exit in the opposite crease.

Surprisingly, the boar dropped in his tracks from the 170 yard shot. Normally, if one or both shoulders are not broken and the lungs are taken out, you can expect a 40-60 yard run. A handful of animals doesn't prove a thing, but so far, not a single animal has left its tracks after being impacted with the Blackout bullet from the 30-30.

And I guess I officially christened my new Revolution stock set from Haus of Arms that only arrived hours earlier today.

23" 30-30 shooting Barnes TAC-TX 120 grain BlackOut bullets at 2630 fps. Scope: SB Stratos 2.5-13x56 at 13x. 155 yards. Taken around 9:30 tonight using only the illumination of the moon.

The bullet centered the breastbone and penetrated the full length of the 37-pound female. It ended up penetrating the hip bone and lodging under the hide. The recovered bullet weighs 104.5 grains after shedding two petals, and it measures .760 at the widest point.

The internal damage, particular in the chest cavity, was not unlike that caused by a high-velocity .22 caliber. The heart was obliterated, the lungs suffered major damage and the stomach was fully opened with a quarter-sized hole through it.
