What I like about this forum is that it is not all about big trophies, just hunters showing off the great animals hunted.
My cousin and I take an annual trip to the Lower Eastern Cape for a couple of days of warthog hunting, hosted by yet more cousins. We had a great hunt this last week, bagging about ten.
Rifle: 270 Win with 140 gr Accubonds.

Looks like a ton of fun. Been thinking about doin the suppressed thingy!

I am also an accubond fan and use them as my bullet of choice from 25 cal to 375 cal.

I love to kill hoglets. In fact I'd probably rather hunt hogs than just about anything.

Best tasting bullet test media I've found to date!

Don't know how it is with wart-hogs but in Texas we can hunt them 24/7/365 by any legal means (no dynomite).

Thanx for the post and pix.

Best,

GWB

Bunch of fine looking ivory there. Sounds like a great trip.

GW: No dynamite? WTH, just use Tovex instead, hehe!
Don't know what it is? Look it up!

In this neck of the woods suppressors on rifles are by far the norm. Your shooting skills definitely improve and there is a solid thuummp when the bullet hits a compact animal like a hog.

Texas only legalized hunting with suppressors a year or two ago. In addition, one has to jump through a number of hoops in order to legally own a suppressor. I've not wanted to take the time, effort and go to the expense of obtaining one. However, I am thinking of doing so in the near future. I'm thinking of a 30 cal for a 300 Blackout, 22 centerfire and 22 rimfire.
I do most of my load development and zeroing off a lead sled with 40 lbs of weight and wear ear muffs. I can shoot big boomers without developing a flinch. I'm also not shooting many magnums these days. I find that with chamberings where the bullet has a muzzle velocity of 2,800 fps or less, if the distance to the animal being perforated is 100 yds or greater I can almost always hear the "whop" when the bullet strikes.
One of my fav's is to be in an elevated blind at least 200 yds away, early of a morning when there is a lot of humidity in the air. If the acoustics are just right one can hear the "whoow, whoow, whoow" of the bullet as it travels through the air, then the "whop", followed by the mortal scream of a hoglet that's dead and just don't know it yet.

+/- 270 yds. to spin cast feeder.

closer view with perforated hoglet.

decent boar.

Great pics Karoo! Looks like fun.

I might have some issues because I think I am more inclined to get excited about going to Africa to hunt warthogs and bush pigs then I would be about the Big Five or some of the other high profile plains game.

Then again...I might just be cheap
