Thanks--just checked in, but no activity. However, there surely is lots of sign. An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

Just checked in again, and there were 9-10 hogs with their noses in the dirt--made my trigger finger itch for sure. An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

I'm watching it right now and just saw 3 Hogs feeding, one ran off and the others are eating happily. This is the third time I've tried this thing and both previous times there were no hogs. Hey whats with the bird bath and frosty the snowman with a bucket on his head?

Ive seen dozens of hogs, birds and some sort of raccoon -like creature I couldnt id.Also someone added some type of barrel-feeder or something right in the middle of the shot.Looks like it has a salt block on the end of it.Also, sometimes it has sound ,sometimes it doesnt. The bird bath appears to have some type of meat on it,as there is a large raptor on it feeding now.(945 am central time) ****************************************************************** SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM ***********

9, maybe 10 pigs now, all actively trying to empty the feed barrel with the salt block on the end. An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

Cool, thanks! P.S I've just seen a dozen boars that drove away 2 strange critters ; they looks like badgers but their legs are longer. Probably the same that JB saw.

I've asked to Pric65 an ARforums fellow from Estonia; he said that those critters are certainly raccoon dogs.

The monsters you cannot identify are most likely Racoon Dogs ( Nyctereutes procyonoides ) See this link: with pictures (pay no attention to anti-hunting attitude of the page, it was just the first one with lots of pictures i could find) Is that what you saw?

Yes! | |||

Its hard to say for sure, but it sure looks like it.(raccoon dogs). The mangey one seems to be missing the fur on its neck and top of the shoulders back to the middle of the back. I find when it is noon here (central time) it is about sunset there.Midnight here is around sunrise there. The sun rises directly behind the camera.Pretty neat to leave on for awhile and see what comes up,but its have been having some connection problems lately.Freezes up alot and loses the picture. ****************************************************************** SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM ***********

Can someone please explain the difference in the wild pigs we are seeing in Estonia, compared to say the wild hogs we see in Texas. Just wondering. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

well, I dont know for sure, but Estonia has been a part of Russia for the last 60 years or so,so I would think they would be genuine RUSSIAN Boars. ****************************************************************** SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM ***********

Estonia has been independent since the 90's. Rumor has it that Putin wants it back. I counted 18 pigs. Jason

It's 8:22 pm in Wyoming and there's a buch of hogs feeding. A loud squeal put me on the ceiling as well! A big boar is really flexing his muscles. Matt

Kabluewy The hogs in Texas are mostly ferals--domestic pigs that have escaped or been released or run on open range and have reverted to the wild state. In our part of the state--S. Tx, they come in lots of colors--mostly black, but also red, orange/black/white, grizzled, black/white, etc. There are a few with European bloodlines, like this one: , but as I said earlier--mostly domestic ones reverted to the wild. So, does that mean the hogs we are seeing there in Estonia are the true European wild hog, not a blood line from a domestic gone feral? KB ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

No feral hogs, all the pigs you see are truly wild boars, born and bred in the forest. I haven't even heard of any feral hogs in these neck of the woods. Open-range pig farming just hasn't been that popular, to allow domesticated pigs to escape into the wild.
No offence, friend, but a suggestion for the future: don't speak about things you know nothing about. Your ignorance is downright insulting. It's sort of like me saing that Minnesota has been part of the British empire for the past 200 years. It just isn't nice to insult other peoples hard-earned freedom and independance. I'm sure you meant no harm, and it was an honest mistake.

Very interesting site, and I find the picture, especially for taken at night not bad at all. I'm usually on when it's dark out and there's always a few boar feeding and milling around, Waidmannsheil, Dom. -------- There are those who only reload so they can shoot, and then there are those who only shoot so they can reload. I belong to the first group. Dom ---------

I should pay more attention to what I write sometimes. I only meant to convey that Estonia was from eastern europe, and the hogs were probably of russian linneage, rather than being feral hogs. That is not what I wrote, and you are right to point that out. ****************************************************************** SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM ***********

Thank you, jb, I appreciate it. I guess I am overly touchy on the matter. Like a circus poodle (had a bad experience with one of those once) . I can't expect someone half way around the world to know our history. Some picturess of the famous Estonian piggies (a little less lively than on webcam ). Note that I'm not on any of them. I've found that carrying a camera and having luck on the hunt is mutually exclusive.

Pric65 I'm really enjoying the webcam, but seeing your hunting pictures brings it home! Great photos and those are some big boars. I am Hawaii born living ass deep in snow for 6 months a year now and I just can't get used to seeing pigs in snow. I WISH pigs could make it our winters. Thanks for sharing. Matt

Thanks for the pictures. They make this much more interesting and it's pretty darn interesting anyway. Just look at the fur on those critters. I have somewhere in my collection a DVD of an old movie about an old tribesman Golde it think, but my memory is bad. I think the old guy in the movie was Ursu or something like that, but the setting and actual filming was in Siberia, long before digital special effects. Anyway, they showed some scenes of the Siberian Tiger, and also some wild boar, which I assume the Tigers prey upon. So that would certainly account for the removal from the gene pool any slow, large or really dumb pigs. So I think the setting and the story in the film was authentic, because as I remember it was based on a book written by a Russian surveyor, which was not fiction. If so, these critters have a broad range in northern Europe, including Siberia. Maybe someone with more authentic knowledge than I have can confirm that, which I find very interesting. I was married to a Ukranian woman for a short time, and she told me that about the only wild big game they have left in Ukraine is the wild boar, but she was a city gal, and in my opinion didn't know much except how to make my life very complicated, and a lot poorer.
