So, my roomie and I had friday off from college due to Good Friday and we decided what better way to spend it then hog hunting...anyways, quite an adventure, I finally got the chance to take my 458 out hog hunting. Day one, we run upon a pig that clocked in at 257 lbs while it was no more then 15 yards away from my truck, so we decide, its handgun hunting time, just to give him a fair chance....well, heres the end result, it took 2 shors from the 44 mag and several from the glock 23, maytbe 6 in all to put the beast down, not the cleanest kill but he was also very adamandt about trying to live.

Heres the tusks on this wild one

Then today, saturday we spot a pack of about 13, both big pigs and lil piggies about 50 yards off, once they see my truck they haul butt off. So we decide its time to bring out the big guns to see if we can thin out the pack, my roomie marcus shoots a modified 45-70 Gov't and I shoot a BIG BORE AR, the round is currently used in both Mil and Law Enf for disabling cars in for intermdiate barrier work. Hence it should work good on pigs what with that nice grissle shield. So we hit the pack on foot, seak up and I waste no time, anchoring one to the earth with the first shot. the pack runs off, dead sprit, we swing around carefully as to be sure were not about to be gored and then run after the rest, I get mounted on a tree limp and sight in a black one at about 60 yards, shoot and mis, I realign on a brown and black spotted one and lead it one head length, BOOM and it too is now anchored into the soil. All in all, when ranged, an 82 yard running shot, not bad considering I then realized I was bleeding and now have scope eye....

Speaking of eyes, why did 2 out of 3 of the pigs we shot, have "popped" eyes, is the force from being shot cause enough stress to blow an eye out? We noticed that the pig we handgunned had one eye which was "blown" and the pig I shot on the run also had a right eye which was "deflated" or so it looked, anyone have an explaination for this?
OK guys hope yall enjoyed this story more to ceom next weekend im sure....

Sounds like a good hunt minus the scoped eye.
