After struggling with the last hog, I order a Power Loader
It uses the UTV winch! This is soooo easy!

After struggling with a couple of large hogs, including one that was nearly impossible for two of us to load into the truck, I went out and bought a hitch mounted swivel hoist with a 500 lb capacity. Loading a big hog by hand at midnight isn't much fun, especially when you're hunting by yourself.

Anything over 500 lbs, and I'm walking away.

Assuming your skinning/cleaning area is in the same area, you can simply use a length of strong rope or short light chain and loop it over your 4 wheeler, UTV, or truck trailer hitch. You can drag a pig for several miles and it won't hurt the meat.

It took two men and a tractor front end loader to recover Hogzilla from the field.
Then they used an electric winch to lift it up onto the cleaning frame.

Outfit in Fl where I shot those two pigs in July '11, had one they used, much like this but, don't recall seeing any tie down straps, seems like the blade was wider too. Sure made quick work of it and hauled them 1/4 mile to the butchering rack.

\Thinking it was looking like a buddy and I were going to make a trek to Tex and kill a bunch of 'em last year. I welded up a hand strap winch on a pole that hooks to the ball on my trailer hitch, bottom on the ground, and swivels to swing them into the bed. Tried it with a V-8 engine and worked swell. Complications got in the way and we didn't get to go. HF strap winch is rated at 1200# I think it is.

I always just Indian quartered them also known as the gut less method. When we would shoot them in the thick stuff and could not get a atv or truck to them.

Then hauled the quarters and back straps out when one has done enough times one can have a hog/deer into sack in a short time.

But any one of the hoist methods would work if one can get a atv or truck to them. The power loader looks like a nice option.

On big bears we would also tip the atv up so it is resting on its back rack strap the bear to the rack then tip the atv back down and drive away. a big bear takes another person riding on the front to get the front wheels on the ground.

Also we would load them into a otter sled that makes pulling them out a lot easier even on dry ground.

That Aussie Jack strap looks like an old fashioned fence stretcher.

Yep--the boars get a free drag to the buzzard buffet via a rope thru the hind leg and over the trailer hitch.

Many pigs ( hogs ) in NZ are "lifted" like this, and carried some distance. My fanatical pig hunting friend carried this boar a good distance and even a fair way uphill to reach the 4WD. He had a few rest stops of course and during one I offered to carry this animal over a stretch of fairly level ground. I couldn't do it... I went about 20 steps and gave it back to him.
