Shortly after 6 a.m. this morning, a rogue boar stepped out and noticed that someone had shredded one of his favorite haunts. From my vantage point some 188 yards away, he did not appear to be all that pleased and proceeded to have a stare-down with the world. I did not want him to leave angry and be estranged from the place that he loved, so as this was going on, I decided to implant my own tracking device into him. But he seems to have had a bad reaction to it. I am concerned that maybe it was all the lead in that old-style device…..

Bobby: I've got an old Turkish Mauser with a 29" barrel. I need to loan it to you to photograph with your hogs. Your shorty TC makes them all look huge. That ain't fair!

He simply should not have taken a normal agricultural practice so negatively. You merely performed a different method of anger management for this specimen. He is much better off. shocker clap beer

Steve-That 29" Turkish Mauser would take 100 pounds off of every hog!!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

The little 7mm BB with a 20 1/8th barrel handles so sweetly that I find myself reaching for it no matter what the situation. I have a 23" .309 JDJ that shoots exceptionally well but burns 16 grains more powder, recoils and barks more and -- while it does offer more punch at the payoff end -- doesn't kill the piggies with any notable degree of additional authority.

And those old-style Nosler Solid Base, lead-tipped bullets -- well, I know you think about as highly of them as I do. They do the job efficiently and effectively -- and without the fanfare (or cost!) of these new-fangled mono-metals and other premiums.

You are a good man for doing favors like this for your hogs. It's not your fault they have a reaction to the implants. You are just looking out for their best interest.

Live long and prosper.

I'm almost certain that Nosler dropped them because they virtually equaled the performance of their Partitions at less than half the price.

I picked up a small "trove" of the SB Noslers in 7mm/150 grain a few years ago, but had nothing to shoot them in until acquiring a Sako .280 Rem a short time ago. Here's a 200 yard group with the SB's from the gun measuring just .56". I fired two shots at a 400 yard target just to check the drop and the two shots (admittedly lucky) landed just an inch apart.

Great shooting! Whether on the target range or in the field, those bullets just don't seem to disappoint.

I think you need to try it again just to make sure. I hear copper may have similar reactions.

Kind of off the subject but Bobby has some of the best looking contender carbines I've seen. Bobby, we have seen them before, lets see a few again. I still have two of them and love 'em. DW
