We are thinking of having a very few hog hunts on our property on the Brazos in Haskel County just a couple miles south and west of Rule, Texas. We are thinking of 4 guys for 2 days at $800. per gun. We have tower blinds and corn feeders. We have a bunkhouse and a generator. Bring your own sleeping bag. We will feed you morning and evening. We will gut your animal also. You can stalk and hunt if all of you go together. We have a large population of hogs. No limit of course.
We have never had anybody but family on our property and this is a new undertaking. It will have to be no sooner than the last of Feb. We need to get rid of a lot of hogs because we are going to put in a bunch of food plots this spring and don't want them tearing them up.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi there, sound.s ok but I think $800.00 for two days is a little steep. From my experience
$2-300 a day for a semi guided hunt is reasonable. I paid $600 for a three day hunt, less food, last year in SC.

Thanks for your input Brian. We are going to do some real heavy feeding the next 3 weeks and I will get our game camera flashcards and will post current photos. Being that we have frontage to the Brazos, we have a lot of hogs. I think that we will modify the fee structure with a lesser amount per day with a kill fee. Since nobody from the forum has been there or saw our place it makes it hard to realize what we have. We realize that the worst thing that we could do would be to have some unhappy hunters. I will keep you posted.

My brother went one one 2 years ago 100 dollars a day as many hogs as you wanted to shoot. Feeders blinds ect.

I am going one one in march 50 dollars a day as many hogs as you want to shoot. But very limited feeding. No guides ect.

Hello,
I think 500 to 800 hundred is the going rate. The higher end has some basis butcher services throw in. Brian are the hogs in SC wild or are they shipped in to hunt? I have been looking at some lodges in SC but have not made any calls yet.

Since we are sure of our hog population, I think we will do like some. We will offer a lower rate per day, a kill fee, gutting and cleaning fee, and a small fee for food. I understand that making a trip to an unknown place is a little scarey the first time. It is supposed to rain this weekend, but I will try to get out there and check for current pictures in our game cameras.

Thanks to the guys that showed an interest in our hunt. We have decided to take it off the table this year. We just have too much going on to do the job that we want to do for you. I will post photos from time to time of our place and our hogs. We will get back together on this next year.
Thanks Butch

Butch,
I sent you a PM.

The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

I took two groups of hunters (5 total) to our lease last year to shoot hogs--$75 per hunter per day and they do their own food. I provided transportation to the blind, grained the roads/senderos, hauled their game, and field dressed them if requested for $25 per head. They got to use our "rustic" camphouse and enjoy our hog's bumper flea population.

Dustoffer:

I've got too many hogs of my own ranch, but I always enjoy seeing and hunting new places and if you're going to do the same thing again, I'd really like to be on the list. Depending on the dates, there could be myself and my 13 yr old son and possibly one friend. Sounds like fun to me, pm or email me.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Gatogordo--would love to have you and your son come help out but after the 28th it is no longer my problem. I'm moving on. Can't take the landowner's changing ideas, rules, and behavior, plus I have a hunting buddy that I want to team up with again. Been a great 6 years, but time to go.

I'll get a couple more hunts for hogs in--this weekend for starters, and I'll be back as many times as I can, to include the afternoon of Feb 28th if weather permits.
