So NY State is getting concerned about wild hogs running around. Their solution is to trap them.
Maybe they'll try to give them birth control next...like NJ tried to do with the deer.

You can't make this stuff up.... rotflmo

Unfortunately, this is the prevailing thought within the game management and wildlife biology community. Almost the same thing is happening in Missouri. While it is not illegal to hunt them, it is HIGHLY discouraged by the MDC. If you are deer or turkey hunting, you can take them, but the state really doesn't want you hunting them. I had a long conversation with a friend that is a wildlife biologist in Georgia and he told me that the thought is to try to trap and capture as many as possible. The thought is that hunting them may get one or two, but will also disburse the rest thus increasing their range and interfering with management department efforts. My buddy did not agree, but that is the current thought.

I know folks in southeast Missouri that hunt them all the time. I believe Ted Thorn here does.

I personally think it is stupid and think they would do better to use the hunters and organize them to help with the eradication, but what do I know.

Same BS with coyotes. The "biologists" claim the more you kill, the more they will step up reproduction to compensate. In that case, you're obviously not killing enough. Big Grin

No clue where that county in NY is!~!

Thing is about wild hogs: You either have 'em, or will before long". Kill all you can and there's not enough of you to do much reduction no matter how soon you got started.

Grizz has it right on the coyotes. IF they fill in the blank spots you just haven't killed enough of 'em yet. Same deal with hogs. Just stand back and watch I say.

Thanks for the clip mete.
Crop damage hunting only? Live (assumed) trapping by the DEC? Does sound out of whack for sure. A bounty per hog similar to a nutria bounty sounds more productive and much more cost effective than live trapping. Where do the trapped animals go? Hmmm.

Interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out at work. I work in Harris and fly all over southeast NY. See plenty of deer from the helicopter when were out at dawn or dusk, especially under nightvision!

So. Now ny will be overpopulated w/ 2 legged and 4 legged hogs. Some libtard will want to give the 4 legged ones the right to vote so ny can have more libtard politicians.

There is a HUGE difference. I get to choose whether or not I subsidize the 4 legged ones AND I get to choose how to control the 4 legged ones population AND the 4 legged ones at least provide some benefit.
