Killed these two early yesterday morning. Shot the big boar by edge of pond out of truck window 188 yards, missed one running at about 250, drove around lake and cut them off just as they got to woods, almost sure I shot another one but didn't find and didn't have any real desire to look, and got the smaller sow with the last shot in the .300 Win Mag pictured.

Big boar weighed 290 pounds. I really thought he would weigh more, but he wasn't very fat. Couldn't find anyone to give them too, so took the backstaps and returned them to nature.

That's two more vermin who won't screw up the back forty anymore. Congrats indeed!!! Smiler I saw on another forum a dog breeder express his concern about the over-hunting of hogs and how he often released them unharmed to conserve them or to allow them to breed. That kind of talk im my neighood may get you a knot on the head.

LOL!! That's funny!! That's a tree-hugger argument if I've ever heard one!! Pigs are endangered, haven't you heard? Especially when I have my .475 Linebaugh in my hand! jumping

Larry, I think my first hunt of the "season" will be in Florida (it's a birthday gift), and then I will have to get permission from my wife to maybe head towards Louisiana?? Big Grin

NICE GOING!

That boar is a whopper, no doubt.

I've hunted for maybe an hour or so after first light the past couple of days but have seen nothing but deer and rabbits. GUess the hogs have gone nocturnal on me. But the grapes are starting to hit the ground, so they'll soon change their ways... Big Grin
