You all are gonna be disappointed, but I didn't want you to think I had quit. I went on a short vacation, and sat the stand on the 7th (full moon). Sat from 9:30 PM until 1:30 AM and didn't see a thing. Still, all in all, it was a good night. Going back tomorrow night maybe, with report to follow. I'll also post a pic of my "analysis" of the game camera photos that shows clearly when the hogs are at the feeder.

Bobby TomekI've been out the past few nights without seeing much other than deer and raccoons. I am hoping the hogs will return tonight. I'll be working late at home and hope to take a few strolls out in the pasture to break up the monotony.
My triger finger is getting very itchy...especially after seeing Lorenzo's monster hog!

GeedubyaGood luck to all you guys. Can't go to my lease right now so I'll have to enjoy the thrill of the hunt through the posts that you guys make. So get out there and shoot something else, take lots of pix and come back and post them. Embelishments and exagerations are appreciated!

Ya know, unlike Davy Crockett, I may not be able to "grin" a coon out of a corn feeder, but when it comes to "corn likker", I can usually beat those critters the best four out of five.

dustofferHot as heck today--but on Father's Day, I just had to get in a hunt. So, left the house at 9:10 PM, drove to the ranch, parked the truck, walked to the stand site I prepared yesterday, sat down, and before I had stopped sweating, there they were. So, slowly picked up the bipod and rifle (they were on the ground 'cause I was hot and fanning plus drinking water), turned on the red light, and slowly eased it down onto the two boars. Found the aiming point, and Bang-Flop. I had been in my seat precisely 14 minutes.
Used my M70 Featherweight in .22-250, 55 gr Ballistic Tip at 3525 fps. Note the ingenious use of duct tape to keep the red light from pivoting around the scope tube!! Works great, but I need to get some camo duct tape.

rickt300Remove the plastic c clamp part of your light, put a tall weaver style scope ring on the scope upside down and us it to hold the light on. No duct tape wastage.

ditto on the duct tape,
but I'd rather take a roll of bailing wire to the "shitter" than wrap it around one of my blue steel and wood rifles. Texas hill country is hard enough on a "finish" alone.

dustofferGeedubya--you are spot on about the finish. As soon as I get home, I take the tape off and clean any residue off the stock. Don't let it sit until morning even.
And, no wabbits or armadillos--too early in the evening for them.
rickt300--thanks for the tip on mounting the red light. I've been using that slip-on mount for years and hassling with it pivoting around. Duct tape has worked, but the weaver ring is a perfect fix!! Now I need to schedule another hunt to validate the fix!!

GREAT work .. and i HAVE camo duct tape ...always
wd40 works pretty good on the duct tape glue
