Well, the picture pretty much tells the tale. Just as it was light enough to make out shapes and forms, I took a peek outside and noticed dark blobs in the distance. I grabbed the 30-30 AI Contender, and – seeing that there were several medium-sized hogs in the bunch – decided to wait and try for a double. The larger hogs would not cooperate, and it appeared they were about to leave, so I decided to settle for a single and picked out the piggy offering the best target presentation. As I was about to squeeze the trigger, I saw a piglet run several yards behind the sow I had targeted. So I quickly tripped the trigger, and both dropped at the shot. Once again, the 150 grain Accubond was impressive in performance. I no longer have a rangefinder, but the hogs were near a bush that I previously ranged at 244 yards. The sow was perhaps a step or two beyond that, but I’ll call it an even 244. The piglet was 8-9 yards behind the sow.
