I shut down my feeder I hunt over as the pigs were there nearly constantly and kept the deer away. I upped the frequency and feed time on the trap feeder (about 50 yds away) and when the camera told me they were coming regularly, I set the trap (yesterday afternoon). Sometimes it takes a day or two as human scent can make them wary. But, apparently I don't smell as bad as the corn smelled good and this morning had 9 to add to the buzzard buffet. And, interestingly, when I had them lined up for the picture, there were already a bunch of buzzards circling overhead. Now maybe I can get some fresh venison.

I bet the buzzards were grateful. Around here, it's been a tough few months for them.

The deer will thank you. A deer harvest report be appreciated.

For me it's the other way around. Deer are thick under the feeders but no pigs. It's dry here! the deer are coming around where I normally the feed cubes to the cows looking for scraps! Good kill!

Back in the stand this evening—same crowd of 3 does with yearlings came in. One doe gave me a shot but before I could get the pin settled she turned to face me and I won’t take a frontal shot with my bow. Muscles finally tired out and when I had to let down, they spooked. Two of the yearlings stuck around but it’s too early in the season to shoot one. Not desperate — yet!

Wise decision not to take a chest shot. Saw a few dead stinky deer with arrows in their chest. Found one of the shooters and he admitted that he only searched for 10 minutes and quit looking. That was nice 7 pointer and the other was big 9 pointer.

Back out tonight and the crowd came in—7 this time. Got drawn, settled down and was picking a hair to cut, and one of them blew and away they went. I am west of the feed pen and I think I am silhouetted and that makes my movements way more apparent. I have a mesh screen with cloth strips woven in, but that just isn’t enough. Gonna hunt there Tuesday morning and the sun won’t be the same and hopefully I’ll get ‘we done.
