The night was COLD and the moon nearly full.
A thick mist or fog was envolving everything...

I put the 9,3x62 back in the case because of the heavy fog (everything was wet) and pick up the plastic 30-06 remington.

I was sitting on a plataform that I attach to my truck. I stop the truck inside a just harvested sorgum plantation, there still was lots of food in the floor so I decided to wait there to see if something appears..

In the silence of the night a cow went "mooo" to my right, that cow change my luck !!!

There he was, walking quietly, escaping away from the path I was expecting him, he was moving behind some brushes, just like a ghost.

Finally the 30-06 gave me a nice satisfaction !!!

You will see the thick fog in the first picture we took that night. the rest of the pics have been taken some minutes ago. As I write this topic, the pig is still hanging from a tree waiting to be skinned...

THE TEXAN VERSION OF MY PIG HUNT

I was walking alone in the most completly darkness when suddenly I saw something coming for me from behind some brushes..

He jumped looking for my throat but with a quick movement I stick my homemade knife that I usually use to shave myself in his heart..

Then we roll in the grass and with one hand i close his mouth and with two fingers of my other hand I close his nose holes, one finger in each hole to cut his breathing..

Finally he was dead...

I pick it up alone, I put it ontop my shoulder and carry him through 20 miles of swamps till i reach my truck..

I spit in the floor and drove back home with the sunrise..


I donot know which part is more difficult to believe, if my fight with the boar or those 20 miles walk carrying him....

It would have to be walking the twenty miles fighting bears and alligators in the swamp most every step of the way home plus having to dissapoint all the breathless senoritas that want you to stop and comfort them in their hour of need.

Yes Matts, it is my biggest boar so far.

Last year I hunted another big one but the shot was taken by my hunting buddy federico.

You can see that the point of the nose was really pink (obviously because some domestic blood on him) but on the shoulder mount is black because the taxidermist "touch" him a little bit with black painture.

This pig was bigger than the one we took yesterday night. As you see we are a very lucky team !!!

Theres one thats told down this way, and now I think i understand that it must have come from Texas originally.
A group of duck shooters are sitting round telling of there best shots, when an old guy speaks up and say's "thats nuthin, I once got a duck a boar and a trout with one shot".
How?, the others ask.
" weeell, It was in the days when i used a muzzle loader. I was standing in a swamp,loading, when a mob of ducks took me by surprise. Forgetting to remove the rod, I took aim and fired. the rod flew true and speared the duck while the recoil knocked me off my feet. As I sat there, i felt somethink stuck under me in the mud, I reached down and grabbed a 10 pound trout. When i went to retreive the duck and rod, i found that as they fell to earth, the rod had impaled a 200 lb boar through the head."
