Tired of the long winter and want to go hunt a hog.

Does anyone know where the nearest place to the Chicago area that I can do this is?

Not really wanting to spend a whole bunch of money.....

TIA

Bill

Bill, you might try your state Dept. of Natural Resources. I dont know if wild hogs are in your area, but if so maybe there is a Wildlife Management Area or State or Federal Public land that you can hunt on. Also check with the Federal Bureau of Land Management, they might be able to help.

Good luck and good shooting,
Eterry

Westman..

Hi, neighbor, from Aurora here. I am in the same situation and have booked a hunt with Bowguns later this month. He has a boar special for $415.

I usually go to Caryonah Lodge in Tennessee but they are asking too much now for a hunt and also don't feel like driving nine hours. Bowguns is close to Indianapolis. This will be my first trip to Bowguns so can't comment on the quality of the hunt, accomodations, etc. I've talked with David Herring, the owner, a few times and he is a good fellow.

Hello yourself neighbor!

Thanks for the link.

For future reference, there is one by Marshalltown, IA also.

It is called Northstar. They have no website.

Phone is 641-492-6326. Ask for Terry.

Meat pigs to 200 lbs for 450.00. Trophy for 750.00.

Thanks to all for the help. It is much appreciated.

Do you know of alternatives? I can't take the time to drive to Texas. If I fly, that makes that boar just as expensive.

Not to mention shipping meat home.

Same prices in TN and Ohio.

I am all ears if you have an idea that is better.

Thanks!

No, I can't see that you have too many options. If you feel that you have to go now,,, just grit you teeth and do it( I guess)
