Maybe during the middle of the week, I need to change feeder times so that they are correct with daylight savings

LOL....the mighty warrior!

A couple of hunts ago when I took the nice boar in Lockwood....The group of hogs was on the run with all the babies following far behind. After I shot and made sure mine was down here came all the babies.....making all kinds of noise. One of them ran right over my boot. It was hilarious.

I little bigger than that and it would have been perfect for the size for the "Weber".

I don't know, I once saw someone pay for a piggie that big at a Spanish restaurant. "Roast Suckling Pig." I preferred the goat I ate.

That is one cute littl guy! Are you going to keep him or let him go? They are smarter than a dog, and if handled properly, make fine pets, if you have room where he can run a bit!

I posted with out reading the thread, so I see you let her go! Good on you!

Mac- I couldn't of killed her, at least, not after catching her lol. Maybe if I was stranded out there and had a fire going with some Tabasco and 1 shell and she came running at me lol.

If I had the room or lived out in the country they would have all came home with me. Big Grin

I'm confused, what does daylight savings time have to do with feeder times? Are the hogs on daylight savings time?

Butch- If I have a hunter in the blind from 4:30pm to 6:30pm when it is dark, what good would it be when the feeder is going off at 7pm Big Grin

I'm still confused. I know that I sound like an a$$hole, but the sun doesn't know what time it is. My feeders are set, say at 30 minutes before sundown. If I tell the feeder that sundown is 5 pm, it will go off at 4:30pm. I understand that sundown is earlier than the middle of the summer, but just set your clock time and set your feeder for the hunting season and leave it. We shot hogs at 10am, 1pm, and 3pm and my feeder goes off at 7:30am and 5:30pm. Hogs and deer move all day and at night. I don't think that the feeder times are that critical, being in the blind as much as you can stand is most important. Hope to see Midland again next year for the Benchrest matches.

We do not have feeder lights on the feeders, our hogs for some reason or another come in right at dark and never before, and the feeder motors are rather primitive compared to the new ones and aren't the new ones that have solar panels and know when sundown is. I think they just have a dial that you set to a time.

We didn't set the feeders for "hunting season" because we hunt the hogs year round and set the times according to what they are for sunrise/sunset. To this day we have never killed a hog after 11am or before 4pm.

Normally that is true at our place also. Up until last year I climbed out of the tower at 9am and went back 4:30. I agree that you will not see as much activity with the hogs, but we see them during the day. Not much hunting pressure on our property as we are there to hunt maybe 4-5 weekends a year. We do spend another 3-4 weekends a year working on our place. We have about a mile frontage on the Brazos and a 200 acre coastal bermuda patch adjacent to the river. It should be a good area, but we have not put any blinds or feeders up on that part yet. Maybe next year.

butch--you are right about the feeder clock and DST, but I spent 6 years on a lease and could never get my point across. So, I just changed my clocks twice a year. And, as the days got shorter in the fall, I kept setting my feed times earlier to keep pace (and later in the AM).
