Since I don't have the time or money to burn at the present to go on Safari in Africa, And since I am not contemplating a trip to Australia or New Zealand, And archery season ain't here yet And being a sour old fart I don't want to be humored, I don't feel political and woke up early this morning, I am reduced to following the threads in the "Hogs, Warthogs Wild Boars etc. forum. Any way after contemplating the "How tough are hogs really?" thread, I got to wonderin' "Are my bullets tougher that your hog?" Now, given that the first liar don't stand a chance, I'll ask..... Whats the most hogs you've killed with one bullet. I've done numerous doubles, only a couple of triples but........ singles numerous doubles...... A triple here and there...... but four? I now open the bidding. Hunters, fishers, and other liars comments are welcomed, appreciated and taken with a grain of salt. GWB

Damn, Geedubya! Twofers are as far as I have gotten and one of the twofers resulted in complete bullet failure (the jacket was the only thing to make it into hog number two), but killed the second one cleanly. And me and my brother-in-law (we're the ones in the back row ). "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Geedubya--The first liar usually doesn't stand a chance, true. However, that old truism may not hold up in this case. That is a hell of an accomplishment and deserves congratulations. As far as I am concerned, you are DA MAN. BTW, what is the caliber of that Hi-Wall?

I am speechless...that is impressive... Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue. What I have learned on AR, since 2001: 1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken. 2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps. 3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges. 4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down. 5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine. 6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle. 7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions. 8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA. 9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not. 10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact. 11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores. 12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence. 13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Geedubya--how long did you have to train to get 'em to line up and stay in that position? An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

At the risk of appearing the biggest liar, I managed five one moonlit night in Medina. Three of them were about 30 pounds and I didn't know they were behind the sow I was after. The far pig was about 60 lbs and I dug the 130 grain 270 Grand Slam out of his ankle on the off side. All of them were at one of those big two-ton round feeders so it wasn't as spectacular as it might sound. But the bullet sure was a good one. geedubya, nice shooting! I love the Hiwall. I have one in 30-06 that looks just like it, including the scope. Larry "Peace is that brief glorious moment in history, when everybody stands around reloading" -- Thomas Jefferson

As to tough bullets...Three is terrific. Four is nice. Five is getting serious. Six is special. But go ahead and count the hogs in this photo. Yep, all of them. Got every one of them with a SINGLE bullet from a .17 HMR. That 17 grain V-Max was recovered from the very last one and still weighed 16.98 grains after killing 17 hogs. WHen I went to weigh it, I dropped it onto the scale, and there was a puff of smoke. That danged little bullet took off, smoked a coyote in the pasture and then came back to rest so I could finish weighing it. Now it weighed 16.979 grains! Talk about a tough bullet... Wait...you did ask for liars, right? Seriously though, while I've taken a number of doubles and once took 4 sows with 4 shots in an open field (hunting from a tower blind), never, ever have I come close to anything like a one-shot quad like GWB accomplished. That, my friends, is impressive! I've seen some of his other hunting pictures, including exotics and whitetials, and there's one thing that is crystal clear: this guy KNOWS how to put them on the ground! GWB, That is most impressive! Pray tell, What caliber and bullet weight were you using for such feat? I have only one double to my credit, two pigs and a cedar fencepost with a 340gr cast from my model 83 454. Bullet not recovered. I would have thought 2 was an accomplishment, but I can't even kill two ducks with one shot. Wow!!!!

I've got a .45/70 and some loads that I'd like to try. The only problem is finding someone that would let me come to their place, get them lined up and give it a try. I'm in west Tennessee and we just don't have feral hogs like other places... I have mixed emotions about that. On one hand, I'd like to have the hunting opportunities, but on the other hand, I know how destructive they can be. Four with one shot is pretty darned impressive! My hat is off to you.

Oh, I know that. But I doubt any one of them will allow me to "conduct a penetration test" on their hog population. Well, let me clarify that, they probably would, but I don't want to write that amount on a check!

WOW that is impressive. I killed a 2 for 1 in Alabama three years ago and named the rifle Old Trick Shot. I waited for that shot for nearly 30 minutes. I really don't know if I could have watched that many at once and knew they were all lined up. You ARE DA MAN. When I go hog hunting next this coming winter, you have raised the bar that is for sure!
