 Took a look outside this morning and saw that the hogs were back, so I grabbed my 26" MGM 30-30 AI and dropped the first one I could get the crosshairs on. Performance of the 150 grain AB was absolutely perfect with complete penetration and a destructive wound channel left in the bullet'spath. My experience with the accubonds is not as extensive as GWB's, but in every case that I've tried them (several), I have not been dissappointed. Some of the best groups, and best results in the field have been with the Accubonds. My favorite is the 165gr in the 308. Just perfect. BTW, I use about the same amount of TSX and TTSX as AB's, and think highly of them too, maybe more, because I tend to use lighter for caliber Barnes copper bullets, with devastating results. The Accubonds are very satisfying as a hunting bullet, but the TSX and the TTSX are simply awesome. I've always considered the 165 weight in a .30 caliber neither fish nor fowl and so have very little experience with it. However, the Shooters Pro Shop has (or had as of last week) an attractive price on .30/165 Accubond blems, so I bought a couple of hundred. They should make a good "heavy" bullet in .300 Savage or .308, and should make a pretty good "light" bullet in any of the .300 Magnums. I think I'll try them as deer bullets in my .300 H&H instead of the 180 graind Accubonds I've previously used in it -- the 180's are really more suited to elk or African plains game. | |||

 I still like the 150 BTs and have had fantastic results with them. But when the Shooter's Pro Shop had a great deal on Accubond factory firsts for something like 16.95, I couldn't resist. And, they do open very well on deer & hog-sized critters. At the velocity levels I use the bullets at, there really isn't much difference between the ABs, the BTs and BSTs -- and of course the old lead-tipped Solid Base bullets. No doubt about that... A friend of mine from Arkansas recently unearthed a few 7mm/120s, and I'll be rationing them for my 7mm Bullberry Contender carbine. He also sent me some old .30cal 150 grain grooved Partitions. Just for grins, I loaded up a few in my 30-30 AI fireforming loads. At 200 yards, 3 shots clustered into an impressive 0.955". Lots of things change over time, particularly with products now decades old. But one thing that has remained constant in the shooting industry is the quality and attention to detail from the folks in Bend, OR. John Nosler was committed to quality over quantity, and that tradition is apparently being upheld in fine fashion by the younger generations.
