Got a call from the guy who runs cows on a friend's place--been on hold during deer season but tonight he said 'Hogman', you gotta get back on them hogs--they are back in the upper pasture. Big Grin

So, got to get the lights back up and the broadheads sharpened up a bit,and make sure there is food for the .22-250.

Results? Well, the camera shows a few coming infrequently, late at night. I suspect the cow man/deer hunter was gut-shooting any and every one that came in and letting them run off to die elsewhere. Season closes Sunday so things will get better soon.

Don't know what this old girl weighs, but she's getting a bit cheeky, showing up every night, and usually before 10 PM. Full moon this week and the cow man called today and was adamant I needed to get the traps, rifles, and bow busy. Guess I'll have to sacrifice a few hours of keyboard time and go do it--

Game On!

Got out to the place tonight, near full moon and nice temps. Was covered up with deer from 7 'til near 9 when this guy showed up. Was hoping for the sounder with the two prego sows, but couldn't pass him. He ended up with a sucking head wound from a 55 gr Ballistic Tip out of the .22-250 at around 3550 fps MV.

Sorry for the crappy pic--camera is in my pack pending hunt tomorrow.

Based on the difficulty I had dragging him, he's crowding 200 plus the usual 100 lbs of stink.

BAck out for a sit last night. Looked down toward the feeder about 9 and thought it was spinning due to the dust in the lights. Turned out to be the sounder. Took a couple of minutes to pick out the head, but popped a 45-50 lb sow and dropped it off at my buddies house about 15 minutes later.

Got out last night for the 3rd sit in a week--and the hogs finally showed and I punched a small boar's ticket with the .22-250. Gutted him and put him in the ice chest on ice overnight, skinned and finished him this afternoon, and took him to a friend who wanted one for a BBQ. Sure like finding them a home in a freezer instead of taking them to the buzzard buffet--

Caught this 106-lb boar last night. He had an attitude for sure and I'm glad we had the trap wire between us.

He's #6 on this place since first of the year--

Out Weds nite--east wind and should have been in the tripod with the 12-ga. Sat in the truck instead-pigs showed up at 7:20 & I missed. Don't know if I slammed the trigger, raised my head, or both. Oh well, one thing for sure--they'll be back next week and looks like favorable winds couple of nights again. If the temps are good, will take the stick 'n string and sit in the tripod.
