It has been several years ago now since there was a significant hog problem but they seem to be seeping back into the area... last night we caught a few we've been monitoring for several weeks.
Sow and nine young entered while a large boar watched from safety outside the trap.

Dking,
Are you remote tripping the trap or is it a trip wire configuration? I'd love some details on either.

The landowner and I are planning to build a large portable pen trap and I'm working out the trigger details.

This trap design is remote trip... Cellular via AT&T SIM.
Several years ago we bought several 12volt DC GSM 4G relay switches and built the door/gate around that system. The specific brand was KIAOTIME.

Here is a picture of the Relay, battery box and trigger mechanism... we use a 12v car door lock opener... The gate trip latch is held with a Rotary Latch.

We use Spartan cellular cameras with AT&T connection so that we're operating similar signal strength to the trap system.

The panels are 8ft x 5ft, we use 12 per trap generally and the gate is also 8ft wide with about a 40 inch open height clearance.

Solar panel and solar controller for power.
