Gotta get out of the house---so decided to visit my local spot--hogs been fairly regular, arriving between 9-11. This one was right on schedule, showing at 9:12 and catching a round soon after. But, instead of dropping in his tracks he left the feed pen to the right and in about 5 seconds returned, circling back to the left toward the brush. Not running, but a fast staggering walk. Stopped at the edge of the brush, but far enough in to not offer a shot, just detection thru the thermal. Waited 30 minutes then checked it out---no blood anywhere. So I started my grid search in the brush where he was last seen. About 5-6 minutes in I see a hot spot and start towards it--wrong, it was a cow. Turn around and get back to the grid and find him laying about 60 yds from the feeder but farther north than I expected. He got up and started staggering off so I stopped that with a round to the head. Tough drag out of the brush---no one to hold the light or guide me around the cactus. But, I made it. Guestimate on weight is 180, maybe a bit more as he was some larger than the one I shot earlier this week. And, since this was in my home county, his tail is worth a Lincoln. Big Grin

Don't see a tail. Did you get it?
Where'd the first shot hit? Not like
you to fail to put 'em down.

At least you got it and put him out
of his misery from the shot.

He had been "de-tailed" already when the photo was taken. Only possibility of a hit I could find was what appeared to be an upper shoulder hit--above heart but below spine. As you can see-he was coated with mud and that concealed any obvious first shot site.

I bought me a cheap 180 degree type led head light. Light weight, sometime I forget its on my hat. Best thing to use when pulling a pig out of the brush! On a dark night its great for messing with a pig or just about any short range chore!

Live Oak---that would work but this drag required 2 hands and hauling backwards. I'd need a rear-view mirror too.
