WhitworthI don't think it's a pot belly -- not with that upturned snout. Someone posted a bunch of photos of the various wild hogs of the world a while back. Maybe if I wasn't so lazy, I would do a search.....

I saw some in Vietnam that looked just like that. Might be some kind of cross breed too. Pigs will do that

jeffe, you heard wrong!!!
A few years ago, someone abandoned a couple of pot-bellies, assumed to be former pets, on my hunting club lease.
I caught and penned them, fed them well for about a month, and butchered them.
They were nothing but fat!!! A 150 pound sow produced a ham with MAYBE 5 pounds of edible meat.
And the taste was NOT good. I tried many different cooking methods on various cuts, but wound up throwing the meat away.
Give me a piney-woods rooter any day !!

CurdogThey are a "lard hog" as opposed to a "meat hog"- good for bacon and that's about it.

I was at an auction where a guy bought a PB pig for $1. I asked him what it was good for and he said the meat was worthless, but he thought he could make someone feel sorry for the ugly thing & give him 50 bucks for it

).
Ditto on the piney woods rooters. They're great eating. I like em under 100# & acorn fat.

You guys can have those wall hangers. I've shot all of them I care to. Saw a bunch on my lease this AM; turkey scouting for tomorrow's opening, that were just right. I'll harvest one right after that big gobbler I have tied out

kawhiakuni kuni pig, early type of chinese pig bought over to nz during the goldrush, so an early type of potbelly pig, kuni kuni is maori for round and fat, hence they have alot of it.
I have seen lots of pot-bellies that looked like him.
Most people dont' know that domestic swine tusk have to be cut by the farmer within a few days of birth to keep them from growing huge tusk.
Not sure how much it helps.
Probably not something a pet breeder would know.

WhitworthIt's the pushed up snout that threw me off. I haven't seen many pot bellies, but I don't recall them having a snout like that......
