I bought a few 50 Lb sacks of corn and will be heading to our place this weekend.
My property is in MArion County North of Karnak.
Will meet my son late Fri night and will work till midnight setting out a trail load of corn.
Hope it brings the hogs out. Plan to replenish the corn before noon next day and again Sat night.
Been seeing a fair amount of churned up turf on the place.
Hope w get to see one or two during the day, since we have no experience hunting after dark.

Good luck, at least you'll be able to eat some catfish at Caddo Crossing. Wink

Put the corn out where you've been seeing fresh sign, you'll get faster response. Be super aware of the wind. Go get 'em. beer

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Hunted hard but the corn only brought in possum, squirrels, birds, and armadillo.
Hunted daylight and after dark.
Lots of sign but no pigs.
The wind was in our favor the whole time.
Did not look like the corn was visited by any pigs while we were there.
Maybe next time.
Regardless, my son and I enjoyed the camping. Weather was great. Temps in the high 60s. Slept in our Suburbans, cooked over open fire. Had a couple of Coronas after dinner and chatted about all the good times past and to come.

I'd call that a very successful weekend!

Corn has been there for 2 weeks. I anticipatet hat the hogs and other critters have polishd it all off by now.
Am going back tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon and will drop another 50 Lbs of corn in the torn up area.
Am hoping that when I stop there on Friday after my business meetings, I might see a hog looking for any leftover morsels.
Unfortuantely my son can't join me this time.
Since squirrel season will be opning on Satuyrday, I may get a bushytail or two on Saturday morning. I'm going to be a two gun totin Texan with my 348 Winchester and my Marlin 39A.

The Marlin should do fine for the hogs but the 348 sounds a little heavy for the squirrels! Smiler Dennis

As expected, the 150 Lbs of corn my son and I sperad about two weeks ago was all gone.
I spread the new bag of 50 Lbs of corn on Tuesday. When I returned around noon on Friday, the corn had not been touched.
Friday was warm, but there was a nice breeze blowing and I was able to still hunt into the wind as I approached the drop zone. Unfortunately I had no luck sighting any hogs.

Saturday started out being pleasantly cool for a May day in East Texas. Over night the temp was down to around 60 and didn't rise much until around 10 am. Again no hog sightings.
Beginning to think the hogs have been pressured heavily in the area, to the point they are staying well hidden.
