At the DSC Show in Dallas, there are some European outfitters marketing driven boar hunts. One booth had 3-4 mounted boar that were presented as weighing 500 pounds or more. Having taken feral hogs weighing 300 to 600 pounds, it is easy to believe those 500 pound weights. What a blast it would be to go there and blast some! All you can shoot in a day at a fixed price. mmmm ? Plus good food and beer! NRA Life Benefactor Member, DRSS, DWWC, Whittington Center,Android Reloading Ballistics App at http://www.xplat.net/

Those mounted hogs were monsters indeed. Wish I had taken a picture. They were almost frightening to look at even being dead. It would certainly be a fun hunt.

Most likely you would have to shoot the monsters at night. They don’t get thatbig not being able to evade the drive/beat/dogs. I shot a 400 plus pounder in romania in daylight on beat/single shooter drive. One of the best hunts in my life. Mike

Ditto what Beretta says. Small drives in the snow where they track the boar to its bed are quite fun but unpredictable. You may shoot on the run or have to go in and shoot bayed up by the dog. Night time over bait is best for the big males. Use tough bullets.
