Well, its gonna be some time before I can go back to africa[if ever] to get a bushpig/bigger warthog. So, my question is where[most likely a preserve/high fence operation, should I go to try and get a pure/hybrid eurasian/russian boar. I've hunted hogs enough to know that trying to get a "pure" one is pricey, and limited to a very few places. I want one with the "look", but also on a decent enough sized property to make it a hunt, not just a kill. Not opposed to a free range proposition where they have hybrids that show a lot of these genetics. So, having stated the above, where would you go? Mad Dog

There's an outfit in Michigan called Bear Mountain that has some HUGE European boars that I believe they brought in from Canada originally. An AR member hunted there last year and the hog he shot weighed just shy of 500-lbs. They are a bit pricey, but I am planning on hunting there in the near future. Whitworth, I've looked at the sight before. It's just that I have a hard time getting past the "hoakiness" of the way they descibe the hunt. Plus, being a farm boy, 240 acres just don't sound that big. However, I'll keep them in mind. Mad Dog

I know they play it up a bit too much, but from what I understand, it's a good hunt and the trophies they produce are second to none. I hunted a place in Missouri about 5 years ago that was even smaller than that and it was one of the toughest three days I have ever hunted. But, they are no longer in business unfortunately...... You are right about the hoakiness of the sales pitch, but if you spot and stalk, it could be a very good hunt. JMHO. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid."
