The Racoons have been hitting the feeder at my place hard. They started climbing up the legs, time for the coon daggers! Went out there to set em but a sounder of sows and little pigs are at the feeder random times in the daylight. When I sit they never show. Figured I would stay in the tower sometime then set the daggers. I was gonna walk to the tower, leaving the truck I headed east south east with the wind to my back. Just as I entered the brush I heard pigs squealing and grunting. Busted! but they did not run off. They were feeding in the brush and somehow did not wind me. I cut more to the west and south west on my hands and knees toward this gully. Made it to a little less brushy spot and could hear I was close. Saw a red pig than a black one ahead in the brush and again though they had me but the feed talk continued! Got up to a huisache snag to kneel behind and lean on incase it was a wait. I could just make out one headed to a little opening, got ready. When the head was in the opening I cut loose with the 375 Ruger behind and below the ear! Two ran at me but turned back in the thick stuff. They did not go far but I could not really make them out. Saw another one headed to where the first one should be down. It did not like the smell of death and took off. It was all over then! I waited some time but there was nothing moving. First one was a big wet sow, took me some work to get her out of the junk for a picture. Long time since I got to stalk one!!

My last stalk was across the pasture on a dark night with the thermal scope---FUN!

Interesting.

Yesterday I heard hogs squealing about 100 yds from my back door. It was hard to not go after them.

But the temp is warm now, and I didn't want to mess with them.

Forecast is for cooler weather soon.

No denying that one's having a bad dream.
