I do like my BUCK knives for pig duty with probably the preferance going to the smaller 105 Pathfinder though the 120 also gets it's fair share of blood, these 2 being my favorites for 30+ years. 105 120 ILLEGITIMUS NON CARBORUNDUM

I have been asking around, and contacted some knifemakers, and it seems like I have to invest around 4-600$ for a custom knife. It seems ok by me. And probably a years wait. I see from your pictures, that my idea of a knife, and what is really used, is somewhat different I have three basic designs in mind: Keep in mind this will be a 10-12" blade. #1 is a square type blade, ala roman sword. #2 is a leaf-typed blade #3 is a pyramid shaped. Example: #1: http://byblos.2.forumer.com/index.php?s=8f03bea9b8f36ea...tach&type=post&id=30 #2: http://www.angelsword.com/european/gallery/BK134-1089a.html or, this: http://www.sword-buyers-guide.com/images/Spartan-Lakonian.jpg #3: http://www.magicalfire.com/shop/files/img/photos/5-121-...mecocobolahandle.jpg ( just bigger ) As for a handle, I like these: http://www.bladesbybrown.com/images_site/reviews_editor...aterials/Micarta.jpg this: http://www.johnnyg.westhost.com/d320-student-s.JPG or: http://www.reliks.com/products/bin/2315/thumbs/1.jpg

I saw the small swords they are nice but you dont to want carry a heavy weapon when you have to walk and run all the day ,besides that i never use a knife of more than 8 inches because they are dangerous for the dogs ,Juan www.huntinginargentina.com.ar FULL PROFESSIONAL MEMBER OF IPHA INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL HUNTERS ASOCIATION . Juan: I have seen some pictures of the Applegate Smatchet.. nice knife, and should be real killer. I was wondering, how much does Yarara charge for a knife? And is it possible to have them build one to my specs?

it's the full model. it's a tough knife for sure i've used several knives on hogs and it is by far my favorite! killed a dozen hogs with it before i even thaught of sharpening it. and it's got a good thick backbone to the blade so it can take a beating and can handle all ya throw at it when stickin a hog.

Any midium quality and up knife, long enough to reach the vitals. Zillions of pigs have been killed down here (Uruguay and Argentina) with the very common gaucho's knife better known as facón. L

like to test and show off new knives ,,,,,,,,,,,have convenced my wife that knives are like shoes,,,,, but when it all comes down to it really rely on a old k-bar easy to touch up the blade, top edge helps on penertration and has never done me wrong,,, the trailmaster,,while a cool knife is a little long and a little broad on the spine for my taste...

On this matter i disagree with Lorenzo ,yes we can kill a hog with any piece of steel long enough to reach the vitals ,i hunted in most of the provinces of my country ,from the bush and jungles of the north to the swamps of Corrientes and the humid cold mountains of the valdivian jungle ,to the snow of la patagonia its true that natives and gauchos in most places uses facones ,real giant knives in Corrientes totally adecuated ,and for that people this is coreect because this is the knife that they use everyday ,but you must use a knife with a thick blade and good kraton handle, martial artists and knife experts are another matter we are experimenting different grips and weapons everyday reverse grip ,forward grip etc and each hunting is only a bit more of training, yes you can hunt with any piece of steel but its not the same taste that if you use for example a knife like Andre make for me .Juan www.huntinginargentina.com.ar FULL PROFESSIONAL MEMBER OF IPHA INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL HUNTERS ASOCIATION . Avoid heavy swords they are beatiful but too long and heavy for real use ,Muela makes good pig stickers my friend afrikaander uses one ,Ontario knives makes excellent knives for example the marine raiders bowie and a cheap price ,Juan www.huntinginargentina.com.ar FULL PROFESSIONAL MEMBER OF IPHA INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL HUNTERS ASOCIATION . Juan, I have a big Muela, and I should have thought about bringing it with me when I see you in two weeks. But I am still not sure I want to get that close......looking forward to seeing you and Alberto. Bill "When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all." Theodore Roosevelt

I have to agree with you. I love rifles not knifes, and it is not the same to shoot a big pig with a "common" rifle than with one that is "special" for us. Any 30 caliber bullet will kill a pig but is not the same to do it with a plastic 308win than with a custom mauser in 300 H&H L

Nortman First " Vi vil ha vores olie tilbage" Blade length should be minimum 8" I like +9" this is so that you can reach the hart from behind the schoulder and also from the front if the boar charges you when you are down The width of the blade should be minimum 1½" this is to make a wide wound and cut more waines the say a stilletto would. Thicknes should be minimum .25" (1/4" stock) so that the blade will not break when you get the knife cought in those huge ribs and the boar tvists, if you do not strike it right. The edge could be double but that would make it a weaker blade (thicknes) a sharp upperedge would be ideal or even a false edge. this would allow the blade to stab better. I have said this many times and will do so again. "You will not get a better knife then the Trail Master" The balance of the knife is near perfect and the handle is superb even when your hands are socked in blood. I own many knives to many my wife would say, and even though I kep looking I have not found a better knife for stabbing then the Trail Master. I do however own some knives that I would also like to kill game with, but that is just so that I can pose with then in action pictures. Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE
