I'll have to lay claim to not being an expert, too. On our annual So. Texas hunt, I've tried HARD to get one that will go 50 lbs. Haven't done it yet. Each time I think I have THE ONE, it turns out to be 40-45 lbs. I think the only way is to look at a LOT of animals. Then you are better versed on what a big one looks like. When you find one that is really huge, then go for it. Good luck! | ||

Mike, Other than a neat skull mount, the peccary is a pest insouth texas, and the only way you'ld take a 100# with noe shot is if you lined up the 2biggest boars i've ever seen and got them both with the same shot. generally, 45# is a big in, and 55 is huge. they stink like holy hell jeffe | |||

Jeffe, I know the little buggers stink. In my limited experience with them that is the one thing I have no doubt about. I would guess most of what I have seen are 30-40 lbs tops at the biggest. I guess I will just look them over and try to whack the biggest one I see. | |||
