here's a true 380# hog and the story with it

This is a picture the Boar taken at Camp Cooley. Johnny, a guide here, and I
shot him around 8 in the evening on July 17. As you see in the picture we
were armed only with our pistols, which makes taking a animal of this size
quite a feat. Johnny shoots a .44 mag. and I shoot a .357 mag. and it took
21 shots to finally shut him down. They don't get much tougher!

Damn, like the old joke goes, if I'd shot at something 21 times, I wouldn't be spreading it around.

I'm sure someone will tell you that hog only weighs about 200 pounds...

I know those 2 guys, there are nice fellows. I have hunted Camp Cooley twice. They have a scale at the "skinning shed".
We [Rusty, 400Nitro, MacD37, and PWN375, and I} tried to tell them boys they need some Double Rifles!

Walker,
That's Ryan, the ranch manager at Camp Cooley, like 450 says. I was talking with him about a hunt..

450, Man, i think a pair of doubles would have ended that FAR more quickly.... even a 375 flanged

HEH, in this case, i would have only estimated ~300... but The fellas that shot it and weighed it, well, I trust... so the fella that said it weighed 200 (heh) i would say.. yep.. KILOS

I'd a guessed around #260-#280. It is rather refreshing to see a photo where the hunters are actually right behind the hog without trying to do camera work to make the hog look bigger than it really is. The 44mag with descent loads is usually a reliable hog getter. My partner used a .357 a couple of times and it always took multiple shots to stop the big ones. Usually multiple cylinders.

I wasn't saying that I thought it weighed 200 lbs, but was alluding to that group of people who always come out and call a person a bald-faced lier anytime they post a picture of a hog and say it weighs more than about 175 lbs.

Just a bit of sarcasm, anticipating the responses I thought would follow...

I like these kind of reports. A legit photo with a believable story with plenty of vouching by people that know. None of this "it-was-huge-but-we-buried-it" b.s.

Thanks for sharing it with us.
