Sure sounds like you need to make a list of the one's that vote anti and get 'em voted out of there so the right decisions can be made.
It won't be long til there's too many hogs and the complaints start piling up on their backs.

I've always felt that Kansas is the oddball state in terms of it's politics and laws. It seems better suited on the east coast.

At any rate, are you starting to have a lot of problems with them there?

I can tell you that they are not killing all of the pigs with choppers. It won't be long until you have a population of chopper smart pigs.We have been gathering cattle in S Texas for years and they cannot find all of the cattle in brush pasture let alone all of the pigs.

Yes, they are taking a different approach. If they find anyone bringing in, or turning hogs loose, they are HEAVILY fined. All hog hunting operations that may want to bring them in are illegal. I don't agree with it, especially since the hog population in Missouri is on the rise and they WILL cross over, but that is the logic. There is not a problem here yet, but there will be.

Kenati, where do you get your info. We are actually more like Texas, except for the hog issue, than any eastern state. Shoot all the coyotes and rabbits you want, baiting for deer is legal, cheap resident tags with high non-resident tags and a draw. The difference between Kansas and Texas is that we have millions of acres of public hunting land along with another million acres of walk-in land that is privately owned and you just show up and hunt (on foot) for free. No lease or tresspass fee needed.

On the regular political scene, we just flip every few years between Republican and Democrat. I will say it is a moderate state most of the time, except for the senators. At one point, our choices for govenor were "the nut with boobs and the boob with nuts". The nut with boobs won and she is now Health and Human Services Secretary. Glad she left!

Not sure what "bring them in" means - is it illegal to hunt and kill and eat feral hogs?

What is the reason given?

If you're a farmer and feral hogs are rooting up your crop you can't shoot them?

"Bring them in" means they are trapped somewhere out-of-state and imported and released for hunting purposes. Missouri is experiencing a feral hog problem due to this, and their high reproductive capacity. According to the Mo. Dept of Conservation, to maintain hog population numbers level, you must kill 80% of the herd each year. Less than 80% kill and numbers grow. More than 80% kill and overall numbers go down.

I can't imagine the effort it would take to kill 80% of the hogs in any of the southern states.

Oxon, yes it is illegal to hunt feral pigs and kill feral pigs in Kansas. You can bring the out of state killed meat back for consumption, though. If a farmer has a problem, they must get predation permits from the state. Doesn't happen often, but it will be a bigger problem soon. Like I said, I think it's stupid, but there it is.
