INTJMy three assignments in Texas allowed me to take 7 or 8 hogs--don't ember exactly. I used a 300 Win/180 Gameking, 280 Rem, 416 Rem/300 X Bullet, 30-06/165 TTSX. Those were all clean kills, though most went a little ways before expiring.
However, the most spectacular performance I ever experienced was with a 338 Win/225 Accubond. MV was around 2800 fps. Distance about 100 yds, hog was a typical 150ish pounder. Broadside shot, DRT.

hogfarmerA young boar I shot at some 200 yards, early 70s Mark X rebarreled with a Shilen 1-10", Leupold 4-12X40 VX-R. I was walking back to my truck after a fruitless morning in my stand. I decided to sit down beside a logging road on a hill overlooking a small clearing. After a short wait I saw his snout poking out of the weeds. I extrapolated where his vitals were, as the rest of him was hiden in the weeds and took the shot. 200 grain Hornady handload, didn't recover the bullet As it zipped through the hog, top is entry, lower is the exit.

DivernhunterI have not shot a pig. I have shot several warthogs and all just dropped on the spot. I also shot 2 deer and a couple of ground squirrels with my 338Win mag. All also dropped on the spot.
I once shot a ground squirrel with my 50BMG using 700gr AP ammo. Missed the squirrel by an inch or so. Hit a rock and the rock shattered killing the squirrel.

I have some 600gr(discontinued) and 647gr Barnes X hunting bullets and want to take a pig or pronghorn with those.
