Well, buddy told me it was so hot here in Texas that we no longer have mud daubers, but now we have dust daubers--

At any rate, hot or not, couldn't stand it any longer and last Friday night had a full moon so went to the local pig spot. Got there at 8:40 and at 12:00 I had nothing left to drink and I was sleepy, so I headed back to the house.

Pulled the game cam card next day and have a group of 10 (then 17, now 15) pigs coming regularly.

So, Thursday night I baited the traps heavily and set them. Rolled out early Friday AM to take care of any catch, and first trap (round one) no pigs and all the corn was still there. Second trap--2 small boars, 58# and 70#. Both ate a .22 LR and are now in 2 friends' freezers.

And, by way of explanation on the numbers--10 pigs, including a pregnant sow--then 10 pigs and 7 "tadpoles" for total of 17, minus the two in the trap leaves 15. I only have another 6 weeks before I have to knock it off as the guy with grazing rights also deer hunts and he doesn't want me to mess up his hunting.

How hot is it,

It's so hot..........

Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.

I saw a coyote chasing a jackrabbit and they were both carrying canteens, and walking.

Squirrels are pouring gator-aide on their nuts.

It's so hot that I saw two trees fighting over a dog. : )

Birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

So hot that a person at Der Wienerschnitzel was spraying "Solarcaine" on his weenie.

Its so hot I had to go back two years just to find water.

and finally,

I sure wish it would rain. Not so much for my sake as I've seen it but my three year old grandson. He don't know what rain is!

Best

Bon in TX

I know how you feel, we had 15 years of it (drought) down the East and South of Australia.

I was talking to a farmer and some kids aged 10 had never seen a decent rain storm so when it rained, they hadn't heard the sound of heavy rain on a metal tin roof.

I have a feeling my pond is going to look like that next time I go down to my property. It was getting extremely low a few weeks ago. If it's dry, it solves my algae problem.

I've been from Weatherford out to Guthrie, Electra etc. the last few days looking at various ranches and have seen more than one tank that looked like that.
