Perfect pit-sized pork x 2

First, let me apologize for the graphic nature of the picture. The small size of the hogs and the placement of the bullets (I didn't want to ruin good meat on these small porkers!) didn't make them exactly picture-friendly. Big Grin

Anyway, I decided to take a break from the monotony of mundane tasks and take a stroll through the pasture a bit after midnight. I didn't have to go far before I could make out some dark forms in an open field. Through the Conquest 3-9x40 set around 5x, I could tell there were 3 small hogs out there. The clouds diffused the moonlight enough that I needed supplemental light, and I had a small one with me that allows me somewhat over 100 yards of visibility through a good scope.

To make a long story short, I flipped on the light, took down one piggie with my 6.5 Bullberry IMP and reloaded. After quickly scattering, one of the others made the mistake of hesitating and looking back, and I got that one also.

Both were young females and will be on ice shortly.

I hadn't seen any hogs for the last couple nights and was getting ansy. A big, old raccoon that's been hitting the protein pellets looked like a promising target last night, but I still held out hope for a hog, so I let him walk.

He would have been in jeopardy tonight if these piggies hadn't been around... Smiler

If the pictures offend anyone, I suggest they take up a different hobby -- JMHO.

Just call him the "whackmaster"

Strollin' in the moonlight
looking for a pig.
Some might question why,
but that's his gig.
Puttin' the whack on a beast most hairy
Thats what Bobby does with his trusty bullberry.

Way to go Bobby. A leisurely stroll sure sounds nice - I have to drive for 1.5 hours. Don't blame you for letting that raccoon walk, he'll be a good one next year! Great shooting.

Someone get GWB a guitar and a mike. thumb

After seeing a few of his rhymes, I know I'd pay to hear some of those tunes!

And I'd be willing to bet that if GWB was in a group sitting around a campfire, there would never be a dull moment, either... Big Grin

Good Show!

I did that once ... Okie can verify it. Saw a sounder of small piggies going out to a feeder in Dilley. Decided to try it with the M70 SS Classic .375 H&H I was shooting.

Let them settle down to munch and lined up on the first. Pulled the trigger and worked the bolt while it was in recoil. The bloody rifle came down with the cross hairs on a second piggie so I pulled the trigger again. Have to admit I was no where near as selective about the impact point as was Bobby!

Okie called on the radio and ask if that was me. I said "Yup." He said "How many?" I said "Two." He said something like "Damn, I seldom hear a pump shotgun run that fast!"

Could not do it again, but it sure was fun to do it once.

Sorry ... didn't take a pic of both piggies in the same frame after moving them together.
