Is anyone familar with Prone Outfitters in Coleman County Texas? Looking for feedback. Thinking of booking a Hog Hunt with them?

Short answer, not I. However my hog hunts are done on a trespass lease which I lease on an annual basis. It seems the Prone folks out of Coleman County get two hundred a day which does not sound unreasonable. They indicate that they corn roads, spot and stalk, and probably blind hunt over spin cast feeders. Unless it's a put and take on a high fenced trap, "you pays your money and takes your chances". I think I would ask for references and several phone numbers of folks that have hunted with them recently. You will also need a five day special non resident license (#157). It cost $48 IIRC. GW I agree. We are looking at a couple places similar to Prone. Trying to find a place in North or Central Texas that we can shoot some Hogs for meat. Any suggestions? Larry

I had a good experience on a local free range hunt. The operator is a young guy, but he's hunted his entire life. More importantly, he's willing to work for you and has access to some very nice property. FWIW, I'll probably hunt with him again. analog_peninsula ----------------------- It takes character to withstand the rigors of indolence.

I thought about not making this response, but since the OP is about hunting hogs in Texas by Non-Residents, and I have been asked this question before, I decided to add this. I have heard of some guides/outfitters that actually operate under the following statute. I recommend getting the license, it is a Type 157 - 5 Day - Non-Resident Special Hunting license and it is $48.00. Some folks however do and can run hunts under the following, this is from the TP&W website: Exceptions: a hunting license is not required to hunt the following: • Coyotes, if the coyotes are attacking, about to attack, or have recently attacked livestock, domestic animals, or fowl. • Depredating feral hogs, if a landowner (resident or non-resident) or landowner’s agent or lessee is taking feral hogs causing depredation on the landowner’s land. You may not come in contact with anyone that operates under the above, but it is possible. I feel that a NR should go ahead and buy the license, just to be safe. Even the rocks don't last forever.
