Time with the Family is always great. Another Christmas with us all together is special. The Children and Grand Children headed to their homes it was time for me to sit for awhile. I just like the sights and sounds of night hunting under lights. I got there before the feeder went off as I was settling in a small buck deer came by. It looked to have on antler broken off. Then my corn eating grey fox walked by. When they are just cruising they carry their tails straight out and not flared. In the alert or distress mode they curl the tail down and flare it out. I guess to make em look larger! The feeder went off and brought in a nice inside the ears eight point. He would not come into the feeder pen in lights and left fairly quickly. Three cottontails came into the lights but left when the broke antlered deer came back. My fox showed up and kind of did slow circles around the pen with the deer! A second small buck showed but did not stay in the pen for very long, leaving the same way he arrived. Suddenly the broke horn took off through the broken strand back left where the pigs come in. He went right spooking the fox to go to the left. The fox curled his tail down and flared it kind of hopping off to the right! I am thinking "what now"? Then the pig came in. I was impressed! It was tall and long and went right behind the feeder leg, of course! From behind the leg I could see that it thick also! Finally gave me a shot and I touched off the 416 Ruger! It dropped on the spot but I worked the action just in case. He kicked a few time and expired. I still have not found that hull! I am guessing my the "drag scale" (how hard it is to drag off!) he was pushing 300 lbs! Still no impressive teeth, maybe they just break em fighting!

"Drag Scale"- hah! I use a rope and tie 'em to my hitch to get them to the buzzard buffet. Only a week or so until pig season opens for me--that is the end of deer season and my two landowners will be calling me to come and "kill 'em all" An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

Well done, neighbor. They've been rooting up the property to our north and west but seem to avoid our place lately. Guess I'm not being hospitable enough. Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri
