Oh what fun! Good eatin' little piggy. Congrats to your friend. I think he used enough gun. (In October I hit one about that size at 150 yards from a blind with a .375 H&H. For some reason as the gun recoiled I reloaded it. When the muzzle came down the reticle of the scope was right on another about the same size. Second trigger pull left second piggy DRT. Was thrill! I found that the .375 pushing 300 gr TSXs was enough gun too ) Mike -------------- DRSS, Womper's Club, NRA Life Member/Charter Member NRA Golden Eagles ... Knifemaker, http://www.mstarling.com

That's a shoat!! Haha!! That is definitely an eating pig -- and it should be great! Mike, the .375 borders on enough gun...... "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." bugle, I would have thought a 180 gr bullet out of a 300 win mag would have done more damage. Did he hit it or scare it to death. Well, great job, thats about 100 less pigs we'll have in Texas in the next two years. Keep up the good work. GWB

It is hard to see the damage because we did a Kentucky neck shot on her Right above the tail and the bullet came out between the front legs. Thanks guys, we love the comments "Let me start off with two words: Made in America"

Glad I didn't have to field dress that one---but the thoughts of a long, slow, cooking over a Texas mesquite fire with a good Cajun rub---yum!!! An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

I don't know how good bugle's tasted but I know how the backstraps from a 70 pounder my son shot last weekend are gonna taste, deeeeeliscioussssss I like to take the backstraps, get a gallon freezer bag and put the meat in along with a big bottle of zesty italian dressing,4 ozs. of teriyaki sauce, a little garlic powder and some tony chacere's original creole seasoning ,and a little black pepper. I marinate the meat in this mix for 24 hours. When I'm ready to cook it I get my grill good and hot usually adding some mesquite chips for the smoke. I take the backstraps out of the bag, slit them longways and chop up some onion and jalepeno and stuff this in the slit in the meat. Then wrap a couple of pieces of bacon arouund the backstraps and hold the bacon with toothpicks. Put this on the grill and cook almost done, remove from the grill and eat immediately. Good enough to make you want to slap yo' daddy down. gwb

Damn, Geedubya, that sounds great!! I am always looking for new recipes for hog meat, and I think you just posted a great one!! Thank you sir! Now I just gotta get out there and refill my freezer -- actually still have a bunch of venison that I need to eat first...... "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." Whitworth, that recipe also works great with venison backstrap, but you should only cook it to medium rare. In my opinion venison is best eaten right off the grill. GWB

I'll try it! I have a lot of meat that needs to be consumed before I have the room to fill it with hog meat. "Ignorance you can correct, you can't fix stupid." JWP If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming. Semper Fidelis "Building Carpal Tunnel one round at a time"
