Chuck: I see you're in the spgs and mentioned Colbran. Is that where you shot the hogs? I wasn't aware of any hog hunts in Co. I'd like some details if you're willing to e'm direct. Thanks in advance. gldwight/yahoo, or 214/1032 IF you'd like to call. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Dwight | |||

We hunted the Little Creek Ranch out of Colbran. The cost was $750 per person for the Hogzilla hunt with a $200 deposit. If you don't get a hog (which you will) you don't pay the balance. For that you get a two day guided hunt hunt with dogs. Our hunt took about 2 hours. The ranch is 1000 acres high fenced. The hogs are all in a large dense thicket criss crossed with tiny creeks acres. They aren't confined there (there's meadow) but I think they like it there. Pete was our guide and I'd ask for him. The hunt starts with Pete letting the two hounds loose then he picks you up in his diesel ATV. It gets parked and you hike to where the dogs are (you can't see them). Once you're in the thicket you can't see much beyond 30 feet in front of you, sometimes a lot less. The first time we saw the big hog (Eric's) he was 12 feet from us and heading our way. It was kind of exciting. It's not fair chase by any means, but it's what my son wanted to do and it definitely wasn't shooting fish in a barrel. The hunt includes two days accomodations in some rustic cabins (it's not Sun Valley!), don't let them put you in the one by the garage a skunk lives under the deck lol and home cooked food by the owner Alan, who is a great guy and quite a character. Anyway, I'd recommend it as long as you know what you're getting. My son loved it. It was his high school graduation present.
