Killed the big boy 12 nights ago and the place was vacant for all of 7 nights. Checked the camera again today and looks like the big boy has a twin brother--

Also have a good sized sounder hitting the trap--this was the night before last--

Bottom line is they were hiding out and have a head start on me-

Most of those look to be of a size to good eating unless you are just culling + then it doesn't matter. My preacher hunts them regularly + although he sometimes takes some meat home he generally will take them to town + he knows where a lot of the poor families live + believe me they are happy to get a whole hog. I think that's a great community service.

True, IF there's folks around willing to
come pick them up.

I'd get a few IF I was within reasonable
driving distance. 900 miles isn't.
Someone's got to feed the coyotes and
vultures.

Right Dusty? At least you have something
to hunt most of the time.

Those are good eating size for sure. I have onlpy one family that will take one or two. The rest of my takers have dropped off and the guy who was paying for processing to give the ground meat to the local food pantry has way more guys like me than his budget can handle.

"Bout 11:20 this girl showed up--and I put a shot on her. She wasn't still so I elected to use a shoulder shot rather than my usual head shot. She left the feed pen obviously hurt. I walked up and found no blood in the pen, just her tracks. But, the thermal came thru again. I found a hot spot in the brush about 30 yds from the pen and walked towards it. Put the rifle on it to see if she was breathing--nope. But one of the little ones was laying against her. Slipped off the safety and took a shot--missed and the little beggar charged me, passing by maybe a foot away from the sound. I keep forgetting how high the line of sight thru the scope is above the bore and need to adjust upward at the short distances.

Oh well, an 82-lb sow with 5 buns is no more.

Dusty:

Is that what's called an 'abortion?

Good deal, saved some feed and ammo
both.

Not an abortion--but the result of a "necropsy" or "post-mortem" exam by the perp.

Most I've ever found is 8 as I recall. Usually 2-5 is the result.
