Went to my place a couple nights ago. About 10:30 I just could not go any more! A raccoon came in to the feeder but I had neglected the weeds so I could only just make it out sometimes. Set one down there and went to look but drew no blood. The ground under the feeder was covered with cut ants! Went the next morning to dust their butts with some acephate but they were gone and no corn trail to follow. Pigs came after midnight though. Slung down the weeds and trimmed some limbs. Went back the next night, made it to 11:20 and Mr coon showed up. Clear view and 416 Ruger. Went to look and the ants were back. Mr. Coon left some of his intestines lay on the ground! He did not go far! Powdered the ants a best as I could, the brush is really hard to get around and the weeds are high. Never did find their hole. Slept in night before last and went last night. At 11:00 a black form appeared! 138.2 pounds, 416 Ruger and no ants!

That's a well-fed hog!

You must like that big gun huh?

Don't know about your ants. hope
you got rid of 'em. Here it's steady
battle for months before I win.
used to be lots of 'em, I got rid of all
on the block far as i know. Soak the mounds
with gas and do it again every few weeks til
they don't come back.
I see the last neighbor next door let one
build up again. told the lady that just bought
the place how to get rid of 'em. Cant' see
unless i'm on the roof. Can't do that now so--!

Have fun, that's the most important part these
days.

George

At the Wife's place the darned things tunnel some 30 yards from the main nest to the feeder pen! I have tried a lot of stuff for lasting control and so far Acephate (Surrender), white powder that stinks, works the cheapest. On the main nests I mix it with water and pour it down the holes. Amdro is labeled to work but my ants have not read the label! Never even slowed em down. A lot of gasoline poured down the holes will kill em back. Trying something different now, will see how it works. Cut ants with their fungus eating ways are just hard to get rid of with the stuff they let us have now! When they get hard after the corn none of the mammals want to compete against them!

Too bad we don't still have access to the
real good stuff we used to have.
Chlordane. Wicked shit, but, it sure took
care of ALL insects for years with just
one dosing.

We just got through planting about a thousand olive trees on my place and the next day cutter ants were eating the bejesus out of them. If you can find it get Taurus SC out of a company in Houston. It kills those SOB's in a few minutes, but please wear gloves, it is like the old Cholrodane.
