Had an excellent opportunity to test this -- shot a boar Monday night and spined him, right in front of the trap. You can see the dark bloody spot between the feeder legs. Here is the same night--about 2.5-3 hours later. Guess I should have stayed in the stand? An old pilot, not a bold pilot, aka "the pig murdering fool"

The only thing I am pretty certain of, is that neither deer or pigs write or read all those books concerning how they are "Supposed" to respond to certain things. Even the rocks don't last forever.

I've had deer sniff carcasses of freshly-shot coyotes, bobcats and hogs and not spook at all. And I've killed hogs within feet of where I recently took out another hog. Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri

Only killed the two wild hogs. First one Sunday morning, that afternoon others killed a couple on the same spot from the same blind. Next morning I killed my second one. I was told that was an almost everyday producing spot. "no telling how much blood has soaked into the ground there" he said. Friend Jimmy kills about ten farm pigs a week within 2 feet of the same spot in his shop everytime. Puts a handful of ground corn down and sticks the muzzle of a .22 between their eye's and pops 'em. When done butchering, rinses it off with a hose. No way the smell can be rinsed off. IF it wasn't inside and having to walk on it they'd likely not even hose it off. In Florida, I shot a pig on a travel route and the rest came back a little later to finish the corn I had put down. They were moving the one I shot with their shouts to get the corn under him. I shot the Alpha buck this year in my area on the ranch in the morning. About 20m later I shot the doe that kept staring at the downed buck. Nice double lung there with a healthy spray. In the evening not five hours later I had plenty of deer feeding on the corn I dumped in the blood. I used to believe that shooting a deer would taint the land and other deer would stay away. Not anymore... Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!

When I was guiding hog hunters, we would leave the one that we shot in the evening so that during the night we could hit the carcass with spotlights and get a few more. Did that twice a week for a few years lol. Was great fun. The AR forum had me addicted to purchasing new firearms and trading to new calibers. I was able to test a lot of different calibers and loads on the pigs. Loved it. "Let me start off with two words: Made in America"

Early on in my hog hunting career, if I may call it that, I killed a hog in California. We field dressed him to make retrieval easier that afternoon. On the way by the next morning, I noted that nothing was left of the offal except for a bit of blood and lots of hog tracks. So no, I don't believe blood spooks them at all. _____________________ A successful man is one who earns more money than his wife can spend.
