KenscoIf I had to go through all that to get a hog to the table, I would never hunt them again.
That man had more gear than a mountain climber.
I'm sure there is a reason he kept the hog alive for so long, but I kept thinking, why don't you just cut his throat and get on with it. (He put the hog through a whole lot of unnecessary stress.)
At the rate he was skinning that hog, it must have taken him all night.
I'll pass on the Japanese style of hunting hogs. I'll stick to the Texas approach.

Live OakEffort to make a good video! I would like to see more of his trap! Also the nose catch thing!

larryshoresWe do something somewhat similar when we catch a hog in a trap that we are going to castrate.
We have 2 lines around the snout. One line around each back leg.

Bill/OregonLarry, I'll bet that is interesting work, once hands on and personal.

jeffeossoshould have slit its throat at first opportunity - seemed like way too much stress put on the critter

Uncle GrinchI agree, that pig has gone through quite a bit of stress. Always heard stress hurts the flavor of meat.

p dog shooterThe only reason I can see for bringing them back and hanging them alive.
Is if you are going to stick them and catch the blood for blood sausage.

DKingI've watch several videos of these Japanese type traps, definitely interesting. He's one that shows well the process of making the snare "launcher".

Bill/OregonThat's pretty ingenious.
