Went out a bit earlier than usual since it has cooled off. Got seated at 5:15 or so and at 5:30, here came the deer. 3 does and yearlings (2 nubbin bucks). Does kind of hung back and never gave me a good shot. The youngsters cleaned up the corn but one stayed around until the feeder spun and she was gone. Then not long after I hear turkeys and here came the corn vacuums—all 21 of them. No corn so they didn’t stick around. Then about 20 minutes later I hear traffic behind me-downwind, and it was a bunch of does and yearlings, but I couldn’t tell if it was the earlier bunch. They sniffed me out and ran off. Quietened down for a while and other than a squirrel on the limb about 4’ in front of me nothing of note. Getting late and I looked over my right shoulder and spotted a skunk having his/her evening hair cleaning. I decided if it was still there when I got down I would shoot it as I didn’t want a close encounter walking in/out of the stand. Looked back in front and there was a buck sniffing around, looking for love I guess. Wasn’t legal and didn’t stay. As it left, I spotted another buck about 40 yds out that just moved on. So, I gathered up things and climbed down and Pepe le Pew was still there. Nocked an arrow, drew, settled in, aimed and released. Hit it square and arrow passed thru. Skunk moved about 3’ and disappeared in a patch of prickly pear. I got the light out and walked over and checked the arrow—blood end-to-end. I could see the skunk in the cactus but wasn’t ready to reach in and drag it out. Went back this morning and a buzzard had dragged it out of the cactus. This is a first for me with the bow.

Good shooting, I don't think the kill zone is very big on a skunk.
